Smaller trees means you have less wood to work with less room for wedges if you need them less weight to rip through the canopy if you're in tight places. Shall I keep going there Buckin? Hope you're all have ling a good day folks be safe out in this big crazy world!
You, sir, are food for my soul! It never fails. I have the biggest smile on my face during and after your videos! Thank you for your gift! Love to all comrades and new subscribers! ❤️❤️❤️🪓🪓🪓 Lieutenant Bradley
Dear buckin, I started using the “humble bolt “ hum bolt cut for my palm tree fallin and boy it’s changed the game. I am more accurate now! Going to put a 28 inch bar on my husky only cuz I’m 6’4 and need longer
Great stuff as usual!!! Some people just don’t understand in that the wood type can determine the cut, saw, bar length the whole serrr bam. Great cutting, small tall trees and wind makes for a challenging day! Great job Bucking. Love all ya vids
Ya made my day with the Woodman intro , don't hear it very often and ya know it's my favorite . I had to grab my saw and head over to the woods and burn a little 2 cycle after hearing it , nothing like a little pre game music to get ya pumped up . Plus my wife and daughter got me a new sthil 462 for my birthday Thursday , and she rips. Oh also, glad to see you got a decent shirt there Buckin , ha ha . Is there any back story with the shirt ? Any new saws gonna show up in your hands ? I think you'd like that 462 LOL .
I'm glad to see you're using the grinder I let you borrow buckin..lol.. you know you were supposed to bring that to Michigan with you this weekend you're lucky we got cancelled ..it's my birthday on the 20th Bell Hoppers was the other day we both turned 43..I'm going to miss hanging out with friends and family the buckin Army..we all love watching you Billy bill you are a good man and a hell of a friend thank you for being here for us..love yeah brother
More houses being built in the woods, dont maintain the under brush and weeds/grass, then when a fire comes along "oh my! how terrible, we lost everything" What do you expect?
I sure love the double tanks the new spouts are automatic they shut off right at the right level . No caps they are spring loaded o ring stoppers . Made by Husqvarna.
Definitely less wood to work with on the smaller trees for cuttin and wedging. Another good reason to learn the back cut first and tickle the front if need be. Love it Buckin thanks for the fallin tips and awesome messages along the way. The grind turned out good buddy. 🌲❤🌲✊
the sharpening looks like a chisel point when your done, where i am at i've never seen that. is it just the type of chain or just the way you sharpen? pros cons?
I'm a selective cutter in nw Missouri. We cut out stumps to were a brushog can be ran over it. Alot has to do with what area a fella is from. None of us is wrong just differnt styles. Love the channel buckin.
Hey Buckin . Loving your videos . Yes I own 2 chainsaws . But I live in the Cotswolds UK. I Get you are a normal bloke busting a living cutting trees . But I'm old and worn out 58 year old guy from the uk . Me and my partner Samantha are coming to Vancouver island in 2023 . I came to BC In 1982 with my best mate Pete . We were there for 6 weeks . What a place I didn't want to come home. Keep on postin cos I'll keep watching .
What??!!! 😳 S. T. I. H. L. ??😜 Hehe, that's what I grew up on, like em' all now though. Going to pick up a load of ash logs for cutting firewood tomorrow, I'm excited, me and my boy together. Great vid, fun job. Love ya, love to all of ya! Take care, be kind.😊🌲🌳🏞️

Hi Billy theres another channel i watch (lets dig 18) He has a Volvo E230 excavator Its a big one I'm guessing 23 ton. He is a contractor and clears sites for housing. To fell a tree he digs a bucket full either side of the trunk then backs up and then digs a bucket directly in front. He moves forward so he has 3/4 of the booms travel in reserve, curls the bucket and pushes the tree over at about 10 feet from the ground, so he doesn't have to walk it forward. The tree falls and he moves up beside it, slews around 90* grabs with the bucket and thumb, lifts and drops 2 or 3 times to shake the dirt of the root ball. His worker comes over with the saw and cuts the log up while he moves on to the next one. He's a safe and well trained operator.
thanks, buckin for this video. and again a little learned. you can see that you have fun with the thing! i really appreciate what you are doing here. greetings to all soldiers of kindness! stay kind and let yer light shine!
i got trained to use a short bar on 50/60 cc saw, cut the stumps low to allow the guy on the winch tractor to recover them easily. Watching you use a long bar makes me want to change and go for a longer bar
Hey Buckin, this’s great Buckin, I’m glad I’ve watched this video, I also have a 32” and don’t use my dogs such as what you’re doing, the little tricks you have are great 👍🏾, love all you’re videos
so wish I could have been the Reddress jogging in the neighborhood of Satilla Shores that threatening day of Ahmaud Audrey being chased by racist men with loaded shotgun and Pistol in pickup truck. I would have teamed up with Ahmaud, The dress alone would have deescalate the situation 🤟
Good to see Mr. Walker. I sent him a 394 several weeks ago to get massaged. Looking forward to getting it back and experiencing the performance. If you're close to him, do you want to do a video trying it out for the first time??
I am new on this channel, watched a few videos. Just one question, WTF is this? A logger monk? A feller zen teacher? He's a truly interesting guy.. Not sure about his messages about life and what not but this is one experienced feller. I would call him if I had a tricky tree to cut down.. By the way, where is this? Canada? Oregon? Washington state?
Stihl let me think isn't that a type of saw lol great video Billy again. Anyone would have thought you had done that before lol have a great weekend to the buckin army soldiers of kindness. Regards from across the pond
Small trees don’t have the room for the wedges and the bar! They can be some of the dangerous because of the underestimation of the tree because of the size! It doesn’t take much wood to kill a man! Ask anyone that has ever been struck by a branch or a baseball bat! It’s enough to end you if it is in the wrong place! Stay safe look up acknowledge the hazard don’t take them for granted! ✌🏻🤟🏻😎
Billy, forgive my ignorance, but many time I see you follow a wedge cut with a thin trim cut way deep inside the new cut, many times a mere sliver more. Kinda like you’re just smoothing that wedge cut. Can you tell me why that small sliver in that deep cut makes a difference?
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith not a problem bud ..hey I got a couple homlite saws old ones that I believe they run but I know one is a 125and the other is a different style .if I can figure out how to pay for shipping I'll send it to them to ya .they are all together and look good just haven't played whith them .didn't know if ya would like them if can get them to ya ..godbless brother
yes bring at least 4 wedges. double double stack. i find 4 or 5 wedges is all i need. usually you only ever use 3 but i also seem to break one a week at least. buckin do you break wedges?
I’m sure you know this and will agree but you get the best edge using a file. That being said it is a good idea to throw them on a sharpener every now and then to make sure the cutters are all the same length. For those that don’t know if your cutters are longer on one side than the other the saw will cut crooked as the side with the longer cutter has more drag. Sharpener is also handy if you hit something that leaves a large Knick in a cutter. The style of the tooth is going to impact how fast it cuts as well as how long it stays sharp. The fastest a chain will ever cut is when it is near the end of its life as with the cutters being very short there is very little drag from the chip as it cuts. Love your comments about gas cans, we always used a 2 1/2 can for the saws and none of the spill prevention they add now day. Keep the videos coming, really enjoy watching you work and efforts to try to teach people what you have learned with experience.
Yer tracks have a lot more power than the boom does. A good operator will make sure the bucket stays on the tree. Depending on the situation and how high yer pushin, sometimes you have to use yer tracks.
I think you have talked about it before, but what kind of chainsaw sharpener is that which you used in this video? Seems easier to use than an Oregon sharpener.
I've been hand filing and square filing and lately I was putting too much of a beak on there in your right I put a beak on and I thought it looked like it would really be the thing and it didn't cut Worth a darn
The small timber don't leave much room for the wedge work. I cut a lot of small diameter standing dead where you need more hinge so even less room for the wedge! Am I right?
Hey Buckin. Wanted to share something. A lot of cutters leave high stumps for excavation. I am an excavation contractor in Alaska and I have learned that even with spruce, stumps come out of the ground so much easier with a low stump as it allows the stump to split apart as you pull it from the roots. Cheers.
MikeCookie1973 it does but it is much more efficient to dig the roots up than it is to just pull on the stump from my experience in softwoods. To each their own!
Sure would like to buy one of ur axes billy, what would one cost me ??? I would like to have a peace of history from a well know tree faller.. would like to buy one of them double axe..🤷♂️🙏 ether way stay safe mr bill..👍

High folks. From Northern most part of New York State. Dealing with the recovery after hernia surgery. I've watched a ton of your videos Sir. Like em all. I've been in the woods since I could walk with my father. Around here He was the biggest climber I've ever heard about. He gave me my first saw an old Pioneer P50. Be king folks. The will and the way.
