Not gonna lie man, this new build has me super pumped about the old Pumpkin. If you think about it, it's just a little, 1/12 scale rig, easy to move South with! 😉
Haha right on Rafael! Jump in there and make it happen! You will not be disappointed! Have you been watching the CW01 speed run challenge video series at all? I've been putting down some fast times with this setup and there's others out there even faster! It's a fun little project/challenge. 😎
You rock at this its like if I had never picked up a RC car ever your Descriptions and you sound like you really enjoy teaching us all the tips tricks fantasy's of bigger better faster things would make me go buy a RC car Thank you the next generation of RC lovers is not quite as passionate as we were it's crazy when I think of going out to play with my Lunchbox or traxxis make me so excited to get home from work I'm like
It's a mystery to many, my friend. Over 80% of the people that watch my show haven't subscribed, I fond it so bizarre... But hey, it's all good, I love making and sharing these vids with you guys and I know you guys enjoy them and that's what matters! 🍻
Great videos. Awesome looking Pumpkin. The lunchbox was my first RC when it first came out. There's another trick for the front suspension. The front arms etc from, it was either the Tamiya Stryker or the Futaba FX10 was a direct fit and fixed the camber issue.
The limiting factor running a CW01 at high speed is not tumbling it, which is very easy to do even on a perfect surface. Testing on a nearly stock Lunchbox, fresh 3S batteries worked out very closely to KV/100=MPH, meaning that with a 3000KV motor it went exactly 30mph & 4500kv went 45mph - according to my phone's GPS. And this was with those cheap "3650" motors that have a smaller rotor (maybe 390 size) surrounded by big cooling fins. I assume that air resistance would prevent that trend from continuing much higher, but up to at least 45mph, its pretty easy to predict your top speed just with volts and kv. 2S & 3000kv is still silly fast while remaining useable enough to be fun, battery lasts forever and the motor stays cool. You probably still want to upgrade your wheelie bar with that setup though.
Hi Fil. Many thanks for the shout out and sorry for the lateness. Someone did tell me about it a couple of weeks ago but being an old fart it completely slipped my mind until someone else reminded me again the other day. So I am working on doing one or two vids but so far I've broken all the body mounts for the MP so I think for me it's going to be safer to leave the body off. I know I'm not going to get close to winning as I'm on a budget of £0 or $0. Anyway great video my friend.
No worries, my friend, life gets busy some times and it can be easy to forget about things. I'm glad you're on board, even with a $0 budget, it'll be fun pushing your rig to the limit. Looking forward to your times! 👊
What i would love to see it a speed competition from you guys with a CW-01…….but restricted to the standard silver can. I would love to see what you guys can do without ultimate power!!! 😬
You stole my idea to flatten the pumpkin and take out the camber. My silver pump has no camber and rides amazingly. She is the same height front to back. I use the black tube from the kits and made spaces for all the shocks and it worked great. 19turn double on 11.1 lipo power. Yes, the old school motor meets the new school power. BA-BOOOOOM! You are correct Sir. I use the "no glue" method as a clutch. I want to buy the metal chassis now after this video and call my Silver pump with the blower on the hood, Reckless Spending!
19T double on 3S? Duuuude, she must be a rocket!!! Record some speed runs and you might score yourself a t-shirt! Spend hundreds for a $25 tee, lol! 🤣🍻
@@poorboysrc maybe we'll change the name to "deficit spending"? LOL yes I do not recommend going lower than 19 turns and I chose multiple wines and made the motor myself. The can is one of those cans that you can buy from the cheap hack Moto brand and the armatures are a company called Lightspeed. Yes that light speed they're still around. I chose a double 19 turn wind to smooth out the acceleration. A single wind will work but when all of that voltage hits that armature we're looking at arcing on the communator. A triple and even a quad wind, would be even better but those armatures are well past the $40 range. You got me really thinking about that chassis now. Thanks.
I'm a little late to get in on this. After years of RC I just ordered my first lunchbox. I know, right? while waiting for it I started looking up stuff to do with/to them and found people talking about this challenge. Dang! this is exactly the kind of silly madness I love. maybe next year.
@@poorboysrc After years of building very challenging and expensive custom Clodbusters I sometimes wondered what I would do next. Where does one go from there? I always said Clods are the final frontier of RC. Well I assumed I would have to start building 1/14 scale tractor-trailers or something even though I don't feel drawn to them there is definitely a challenge in the build from what I hear. I never thought I would go 180 in the other direction and get excited over the most basic entry level vehicle, yet here I am.
@@brycephiilips2716 haha well welcome to the club, my friend. I'm in the same boat as you... I've raced expensive 1/8 e-buggies and truggies, spent thousands on custom Clod builds and here I am, back to basics, where it all started, enjoying myself like never before. 😎🍻
this seems like a fun challenge!!!!!! love thoese wheels!!!!!! looks so epic! it's funny how you didn't put any foam in it wheels hopefully your car is not the heavy!!! put 8s lipo in it LOL it would probably strip the trans!!!
Sounds good! I installed the front ones on a a live stream the other day but I thought the piston rod was not giving enough resistance. I will go through them again and also check the oil in the rear shocks. Those I've had laying about for some time but never used. @@poorboysrc
Sounds really cool, this challenge! I am building a Lunchbox, but I'm far from done, actually I haven't started on it yet, but might be fun to try... Wasn't planning on making a fast one... Yours looks really cool, I like that modern chassis, and those tyres are awesome! Even if I don't join, I hope to see lots of great but weird speedrun videos, ha ha!
Might want to get used to driving it before you get it going silly fast, they are a little goofy... lol! Wheelie for days, never track straight and the rear-end hops around like a baby bunny. 🤣
Unfortunately the money's gone into my mini crawler project. So I'm out for this challenge😥. Or maybe I'll thest my Lunch Box, but with just a Spot Tuned motor I think it'll be out of competition. The rear rims will spin in the tires, that's for sure. So there'll be some ESC programming if you'll glue the tires and use so much power the gear may be harmed. For normal I wouldn't use foams. The tires give a little bit extra suspension. But if you'll run only on-road foam in the rear might make some sense. Camber? Why? The front wheels are always inthe air🤣
Cool idea. The tires are absolutely brilliant. I was interested in them a few months ago, but they are very difficult to get here or very expensive from overseas. Looking forward to the next video 👌
@@poorboysrc Well, that might be a good idea. I will look for ditributors in the UK. I only found ones in the US, what makes the shipping expensive. I am from good old Germany 😎
@@yellomello71 oh, very cool! I have cousins in Berlin. I still haven't been there, but we plan on visiting in the next 5 years or so. Good luck finding the tires, you're gonna love 'em when you get them! 👊
@@IowaBudgetRCBashers I asked the question on Amazon and several owners replied stating that they do measure top speed. I'll see how well it works tomorrow when I go for my speed run!
That's awesome, glad to have you in the competition, my man! The CW01 is a really fun platform, you're gonna love it! Good luck with your build, and I can't wait to see your times! 👊
@@jack-o-trades just make a video of your speed run(s) and you can post a link in the comments section here, or in any of the subsequent videos that'll come out. 👊
@@poorboysrc Well I'm convinced lol. Not sure how many "turns" a 4300kv equates to, but should be interesting. Thankfully I have like 6 transmissions for it from various Hornets and Grasshopper bits that came in my lot, so I'm more than happy to detonate at least one :D
I wish I could divert some money to do this challenge, but I can't. I have a very sweet spot for speed runs. 500 yards of abandoned semi truck parking.
@@poorboysrc I thought so. Many years ago my brother and I made a crappy drag car that used a hornet diff. We used two 7.2 nicds in series through an associated mechanical speed control. No idea how fast it went. No gps or radar back then. But, apparently, the diff is very strong.
Well... Are you sure you chassis is still a CW01? could you please define a bit more precisely what is allowed not allowed (asking because looking at your chassis, pretty much anything looks to be approved :-D )
Fil, you know, I have a Lucnhbox already... the question is the what the best approach to the max speed :-D... Thinking about various approaches... But need a more powerful (more than powerful, actually) motor first :-D
I don't watch my own channel, lol! Between working 60 hours a week or more and trying to create content, I barely have time to watch any TV. But if/when i do, I'll be sure to check your channel bro, I appreciate your support.
I got my first run in today but it’s my baseline on a box stock Lunch Box with a tired NiMh battery pack. So you can imagine how slow it was. It can only get better from here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kreLRECVQD4.html
I mean I am always down for a CW01 build! I should be able to rustle something up in a months time. should be interesting it makes it out alive or not LOL!!! Gonna have play a little catch up with you but I Think I can come up with a contender by then!! 😃 I am off to eBay!!!
