I have since finished the dovetail. I have serious questions on why it's failed being mere two to 4005 thousands off in dimension I'm not seeing something right so Look out for my plea for help in understanding
Hey Kimber. Don't feel bad. I watch Joe's videos and they almost always go right over my head. I usually just skip the white board section and go right to the shop section of his videos. Also, you DEFINATLEY NEED A CAT!!!!!
You need a larger cutter. The one made by Randy Richard would be good. If you can't find one I will loan mine to you. The worst that can happen is that the insert may need to be changed. Hope that you watched the video that I sent to you. It shows how to measure the dovetail also.
I must’ve missed your link to the video. I am using parallels to measure now adjustable parallels in my chrome. I’ll be interested to hear your comments on my next video.
Kimber do you know you have a mouse behind you in the last part of the video? now back to your part, don't machine the dove tail al the way on one side before you do the other side. Because you will need to measure it for width, find 2 gage pins that fit about half way in the dove tail of your tool holder, then use an adjustable parallel to measure the width and mic the parallel to get the width you need and cut a few thousands off each side off the work till it is the same or a thou or 2 smaller. when you get close to the size you need do a test fit it is better to be tight then too lose you can always take more off. IMO thanks
I have an infestation I’m getting ready to abandon the live trap and go with the glue traps. They’re not even afraid of me. They walk right up to my feet.
