Ngl, I adjusted much faster to the new voice than I thought. I honestly adore the "It's the 10th time the Akademiya sent me a letter this week and I'm seriously considering hiding in a Withering Zone" energy he radiates now.

I finally found the way to describe it: Zachary's VA of Tighnari matches the energy of the nerdy friend who dealt with the himbo jock for far too long and now has both infinite patience and no patience at all. He sounds so perfectly Tighnari that it's jarring, but so perfect

in my opinion Zachary's voice makes tighnari sound kinda like he's done with everything y'know? like that ''why the hell do i still work here'' type of attitude and i think it fits the character really well! Edit: holy carp thanks for all the likes everyone! Happy to hear all of the funny but incredibly true comments on this topic :)

I think many fans don't realize/don't think about just how rushed this recording was. Gordon had to record EVERY single line Tighnari EVER said within the past 7 months PLUS everything for the new version where Tighnari is heavily featured in the main event. And all that within only a few weeks. (Long explaination following but tl;dr: Huge respect for Gordon) Genshin officially anmounced they fired "he who shall not be named" (he's Voldemort now) on 16. Feb. So even if we assume the casting and signing for a new VA was done within only 2 weeks (unrealistic), and they were recording right until the last day before the update (also unrealistic, usually voice over should be done weeks in advance, certainly at least several days before the maintanance), so best case Gordon had at the veeery most 2 months. More realistically, he probably had between 4-6 weeks to record EVERYTHING. And it's not "only" all his profile voice lines, story quest, archon quest, upcoming event. It's so many little things that add up too like teapot, TCG etc. Huge respect for Gordon that he stepped up and took the job despite the time pressure and the negative association of who previously did the job. I think he did a good job all things considered. I think he could be even better if given more time, but I'm sure just like with Barbara, once they have more time Hoyo will rerecord some of the lines with him and update them. Usually the VAs have time to figure out with the director just how exactly the character should sound and "get a feel" for them. And then even noises like groans will have many takes until it's perfect. Gordon didn't have all that. Like CyYu said, he was probably already half way through the lines until he really got a feel for Tighnari's personality and I can imagine "one time lines" (like story and archon quest, you can only play it once and most people never relisten to archive) he might have only had a single take and then they moved on so he could focus on battle lines players will hear countless times. That would also explain why he sounds so "settled into the role" in some lines (and those are amazing!!) but still a bit unsure how Tighnari should sound in some others (and those are still good). I'm no VA myself so this is all only an educated guess. But fact is: Gordon had veeery little time to do a looot of work and still delivered. So cut him some slack that not every line is perfect YET and appreciate that he still did great work.

I'm really glad Tighnari finally got a voice, it was really awkward how he silently stared at you during the archon quests.

Paimon’s voice in the Eng dub was actually softer at the beginning of the game, you can hear the voice get higher and higher through the archon quests.

I prefer this voice because it sounds closer to the other languages AND he doesn't sound as aggressive (OOC) as he did before. He's finally as adorable, yet subtly sassy, as all other dubs.

I like how Zachary Gordon portrayed Tighnari. I get a hint of leader/sassy/tough/nerdy all together and is very close to how the Japanese VA delivered her lines. I mostly only use Japanese audio but I was very excited to see how Tighnari’s voice would sound with Zachary doing it and it’s really good!! I also finally get to hear all the other English VA as well 😅🤭

Cyyu is genuinely the only v-tuber i'd binge watch all day

i read a tweet that said zachary’s performance makes him sound like a kind camp counselor who is really knowledgeable, and kinda done with everyone’s shit, but is still very nice and big-hearted- which i completely agree with, and i think it fits his character perfectly!! he isn’t aggressive to the point of sounding a bit arrogant in some of his lines (like i think the previous scumbag did)..) zachary did a wonderful job

I love Tighnari's sarcastic sass! He sounds like a more approachable person (as he should be as Collei's mentor) while also sounding absolutely fed up with dumb people. Matches up with the tone the other VA's in CN/KR/JP had for him

It will take some time to get used to, but this is better than getting an impersonator of the previous voice. I can respect that direction they took though. I really did think they would get someone close to the previous voice. Goodluck to Zachary.

I'm not a VA, but after hearing these lines my gut feeling is that they had Zach record the profile and battle lines *first*, because they were a higher priority to get finished, and then went through the story lines somewhat chronologically, and then swung back to the relevant profile lines. That's why his first Cyno line and 2nd Cyno line sound so different: one is there by default, while the other is unlocked after you finish the archon quest. I think Zach hadn't found Tighnari's voice yet, but by that point he'd done basically all of Tighnari's lines, and by the time of the 2nd About Cyno Line, he was a lot more secure in his delivery of the character.

By the lord I can't believe people are sad over him being nerdy YEAH HE IS! HE IS SUPER NERDY! Literally how can you miss that about his character,,, The "sass" you love so dearly to the point of missing every single other aspect about his character is still there!! He does sound more caring now, and that's lovely! Because he is! Please he is tired about silly adventurers but that's anyone who's ever had to work on customer service ever, honestly. He is super kind and lovely on JP, I can't speak for CN since I only understand JP but CN also sounds nice and gentle. English team tends to make characters meaner for no reason (i.e Ayato) and it ends up with people having these warped perceptions of them, so please always remember this🥺 Tighnari is full of love and care, I mean this is the man who single handedly raised Collei. He took in this child that was so incredibly traumatised and raised her to be the lovely young lady we see today. Give his new voice a chance, the VA did a great job and the newly found kindness in him fits Tighnari very well♡

Tighnari definitely feels like a child prodigy who matured way too quickly and BLASTED through school now. The energy he gives off is DEFINITELY Sheldon from BBT.

Honestly, I think CyYu said everything I was thinking. Like Tigh hasn't lost his sas, it's just a different type of sas. I think it's just something everyone needs to get used to. Also, I love how Cy is just like "I'M IN THE WALLS BECAUSE Y'ALL PUT BE HERE!!! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO ABOUT IT?! OF COURSE I'M HERE!!!"

In Faruzan's hangout he sounds so much softer and less annoyed towards Collei. I thought it was so cute🥰

Im so glad they FINALLY gave Tighnari an english voice actor. It was so weird going through the story line with what appeared to be a mute character.😅

He does not sound too similar to Mika. I can hear the difference. His new voice is great!

If you listen to what other characters say about Tighnari, you will quickly realise that NONE of them mention Tighnari being particularly sassy. In fact, they rave about how kind and considerate he is. Tighnari was never actually written to be as sassy as his old VA made him, and it's not bad to like that interpretation, but the evidence shows he was never meant to be snarky/sassy. If he was, at least ONE character would mention it. Even when Kaveh built a house in a WITHERING ZONE Tignhari was still exceptionally kind to him and even invited him over for tea. Tighnari is just your typical Akedemiya scholar: Fed up with the system and all its' overbearing red tape. He will express his distaste for Akedemiya policy, but a lot of people got the impression that Tighnari expresses this distaste towards people (especially from his line about adventurers eating random things in the forest)

I like that Tighnari is be default polite and scholarly. He's an educator and will prioritize being understood. Raising Collei brought that out of him more. When hanging with his friends, tho, of course he'll be more relaxed and drop formalities. I really hope we get a second Tighnari story quest!!!

I love the change in Collei’s voice line, the change from a introduction of someone to worry and genuine care for Collei. I adore it and the voice in general.

When I first met tighnari in game his voice felt soooooo out of place, it took me awhile to get used to it since it didn’t seem to match his appearance much. But this new voice?? It suits him so naturally!!

The only test left for him is whether he can sound like an irritated wife when he’s on screen with Cyno and his dad jokes.

Weird that they took 8 months for Tighnari to get a voice actor but it sounds really good, they were probably trying to find the perfect voice actor for him and they did in the end, I don't get the people that say it sounds like Mika cause it really doesn't, and the sass and sarcasm is great! Can't wait to hear more of him in the event and his story quest cause I never did that...

I love how his sass is usually muttered under his breath asjhfd Like he's trying so hard to remain diplomatic but it just slips out. You're right in saying it might take some time to get used to 'Nari finally having a voice(!), but so far I'd say Zachary is doing a great job!

I always portrayed Tighnari's ideal voice to be more caring but also be sassy in times where he is fed up with the crap that he gets (whenever that happens) also I find his voice to be amazing! I'm glad Hoyo finally added a voice for him after all those months

let's be honest, the fact that zach managed to replace every and i mean EVERY single voiceline INCLUDING the new ones in a span of a few weeks is seriously impressive in itself.

I'm very impressed that Zachary was able to voice all of Tighnari's lines, even in the main Archon Quest and his Story Quest! The question is...will they update every character trailer he was featured in? (Sumeru Prelude Trailer, Character Preview Trailer, Character Reveal Trailer, and Alhaitham's Character Reveal Trailer)

6:26 on the topic of the burst voice lines i really like the second one, "One with the forest!", because the imagery previous voice we all seemed to collectively hallucinate had a more nasally "forest" that sounded more like "fahrest" that just bothered me and this one is so much better 7:01 yes! the imaged voiced before seemed to sound more like he didn't want to bother with collei?? or like he was exasperated with her?? it didn't have a calm teacher sound "What are they going to do? Lock me up? I dare them." has an almost dark sounds, like he's really actually daring them

This voice is a million times so fucking good; they nailed it!! And so did Zach!! The lock me up quote sounds different in my imagination he sounded like a wanna-be tough guy trying too hard to seem important, while here he sounds legitimately like he's rolling his eyes and even a slight bit threatening. It really shines through that he's not someone you want to cross, while still sounding kind, caring and way more approachable somehow. This really portrays the character that can get along with Cyno, is a prominent figure of authority himself, as well as sort of paternal figure to Collei, a kind and genuine guy who really cares for and will protect those under his wing. I have no idea how Zach did that, but goddang, I'm so on board with his work! I'm looking forward to the upcoming event with him!

Zach did such an amazing job! I love tighnari so much, had him since he came out, there couldn't have been a better outcome for this.

The new lines are so cute lol I love it. The desert mist flower line? Zachary made it sound like Tighnari was trying to quickly explain himself and it was cute lol I'm just so glad Tighnari finally has a voice. I kinda... would love it if they added his voice to the trailers too, but I don't know if that's too much work/worth it for them. Maybe though because the trailers do sell the characters.

I personally love the new va, i get change is hard but people act like his performance is bad just because it isn't like their "headcanon ", each performance is different so it isn't going to be like the old one but it is actually closer to the Chinese and Japanese one so maybe their headcanon isn't so canon and they must accept it.

I dropped Genshin ages ago but Zachary's portrayal of Tighnari is nice. I like how his voice changes based on context. Don't worry I'm definitely on board to catch hit Vtuber Cy Yu in Persona 3 Reload.

I really liked Tighnari's old voice, but with all that happened, when Mihoyo decided to recast him I was really exited to hear his new voice, but at the same time I wished a little bit for his old voice to remain the same (because like many people I don't like changes). I wasn't 100% convinced at first, but Zachary's version grew on me every day. Now I love his new voice and I think it fits him pretty well. Also it's sounds more similar to the japanese, chineese and korean ones.

Imo, before it was like a confident, slightly arrogant sass. Now, its more of a cheeky and sarcastic, light sass. Trying to get used to it but its good to hear fox boi speak again.

I've been playing with him on my team since the update and I'm getting used to the new voice. His "hello" really sounds like a park ranger welcoming you into the local national park full of dangerous animals and plant life and is like "please don't be an idiot, i would like to enjoy my day." And the sass is absolutely built into Tighnari and his voice lines, its not going away. I agree that i really really wish hoyo would let us fully replay story quests, bc I would enjoy redoing all of the ones Tighnari is in to get more of a feel. Just having the voice lines is nice, but its not the same as seeing the characters interact.

I did end up listening to him in the archive for his scenes to adapt. (Lacks the visuals, so it's just half the experience.) And his voice quality does from he's a good replacement to "this needs work." I'm actually curious if less that two months is enough to do all these lines. These, the archon quest, AND story Quest dialogue. If he's in the new event with dead pan Alhaitham MC. add THOSE lines. (Holy crap) Or did they rush a some. Because it is pretty obvious how inconsistent his voice can be. But I agree with CyYu. Many of the characters highlight how kind he is. (As the Windblume points out. He and Albedo are pretty similar) And his voice does sound sweeter. On the other hand, his sass went from openly hostile, to a BIT more subtle. You kind of question IF he's being sarcastic or not sometimes. Which works for arrogant people like those in the academia. Since, they can be SO proud, they can overlook that he's insulating them thanks to his tone. Except his Jail line, boy just went from "they won't do it" to "I DARE them" that was a full on threat.

I really enjoy his new voice. When he talks about all his nerdy stuff it really sounds like he’s passionate about those things. He’s much more excited and energetic. Tho I haven’t really had any experiences with the older voice.

So anyone else loved how he so casually slipped into the "that's my non biney finey" he caught himself but its still super cute.

I love how Cy knows exactly what to do and say to please we Cynonari fans lol. Anyways, Zachary did a great job so far, like he always was there. A promising actor/singer that deserves to grow nicely on this field of work. I even changed my game to EN voices to enjoy his voice more.

I wish it was a combination of the voice that I had in my head and his new voice. I like the new ones softer voice for everything but wish he was a bit more sassy in tone in some parts but overall I like it and am glad he finally has a voice.

I was kinda ehh when I first heard the battle lines, but today I started his story, and it just *clicked*. Like yes, this is Tighnari. I almost don't even remember what he used to sound like, it's different enough but it just sounds like the exact same character.

I am loving Zach as Nari. The energy is so on point and the lines were he is sarcastic are delivered in such a way were if you are not paying attention, you wouldn't be sure if he is being serious or not. Some of his more teacher lines give me Albedo vibes in the sense of his energy and tone which I like. They are both are researches and mentors so its nice to have that energy to Nari. The softness in his voice when he speaks to Collei is something I adore. He does care about her very much so hearing it in his voice makes me so happy. I do agree that some of his more nerdy lines give Sheldon energy vibes and I love it so much. The last part of the aranara line had me cackling 🤣Zach did an amazing job with that line.

It’s a nice voice, more gentle and sarcastic, like the cn va? Though I definitely like the more lower pitched lines than the more high pitched ones. Maybe they’ll re-record some in the future? So crazy that they recorded so many lines in such a short time . And some lines were just straight up bangers, the “why is there a chest here?” makes me laugh Edit: 27:52 “cyno you say?” giving snufkin vibes hahaha

Hopefully the next Sumeru event has some good Tighnari interaction with other characters. Tighnari had some great interactions during Windblume but we'll never get to hear them with Zachary.

Around 23:00 I do believe that, in some cases, it would be nice to see someone grow. Rukkhadevata is known to have turned into a child after losing/exhausting much of her powers, and Kusanali also being in a "child" for being young (and even mentioning that an archon's power derives from their followers' faith), I would be delightfully surprised if she matures herself thanks to her increasing influence over Sumeru, and consequently a growth in her faith!

I like this voice more. People say that he sounds younger - but he’s canonically fairly young? It’s literally one of the few words in his description. And I don’t mind losing some of the sass. I sometimes felt like he was unnecessarily mean and sassy, like why? He’s a very kind and patient guy, again, canonically. He cares for Collei (who we know is pretty sensitive and I bet you she would’ve gotten hurt by that unnecessary mean sass in his voice), puts up with Kaveh, and bears Cyno’s jokes with relative patience. Personally, the previous VA made him too mean, like someone who just pretends to be nice but is actually not, and wants to call out and insults others, but it would break his nice persona. This VA sounds just done in terms of sass. Done with everyone’s BS and using a bit of sass to deal with it, but still caring for everyone, as annoying it might be. I think it fits his character a lot more. And, funny enough the video just got to this point, I agree that he sounds more smart and more scholarly.
