Hello,
.
This is James, and today I have a beautiful clip for you! This long green filament is actually a composition of hundreds of cyanobacterium cells, and the colony is able to move by gliding. They move to find a better spot for photosynthesis, but no one knows the exact mechanism of this weird motion.
.
Tiny transparent cells are algae, Chilomonas and they are attracted to the oxygen that the cyanobacteria generate, because of all the biological activities on the slide, oxygen concentration gets low pretty quickly.
.
What do you think about my Microscopic Journal entries? One long video for each day!
.
And don't forget to check my campaign for the DIC microscope, thank you!
