I love how in a MARVEL VS game, where everyone gets bigger and flashier special moves and supers, Dan's fireball gets even SMALLER, i always thought that was hilarious, lol.
@@joshualowe959 Not tottaly accurate...while her normal kikkouken stays about the same, Chun Li's Kikkou Shou on every other game is about the size of a beachball in front of her(in games which she has it), in the marvel vs series, it becomes a giant barrier around her that encapsules 1/3 of the double sized screen. In Dan's case...his Hao Gadouken at LEAST flies full screen in games like street fighter 4...in here...it never gets past 1 third of the screen xD Seriously, he has a move in which he draws a picture(or signs an autograph? i'm not sure) and tosses it at the opponent and THAT is a better projectile attack then his ki ball projectile XD!

I feel like Spider-Man was the perfect character to partner with Dan, just cause I feel like he's the only Marvel character on the roster who'd put up with him.

I don't even remember _when_ I became a "Dan Fan." Maybe it's 'cause I've always had a thing for "secret characters" ( _Street Fighter Alpha: Warrior's Dreams_ ), maybe it's his "underdog" feel… maybe it's 'cause no one since Vegeta has rocked pink harder than him. *_YAHOO!!_*
For me, it was when I first really picked up on fighting games, starting with the forgiving SF4. Dan happened to be one of the fighters, and with his assortment of silly costumes (especially that grass skirt) and his back dash being a goofy run akin to Joseph Joestar, and finally an ultra combo literally just him taunting! ....Let's just say I've never looked back.
When my brother taught me how to play Alpha, he told me to pick a character and stick with them. I picked Dan because if I ever beat anyone with him, they could never say I beat them because I picked a cheap character. He was so mad when my hard reads and irritation tactics made me 7-3 against his Akuma.
I love how Dan's level 3 wipes out most of his health and does the damage of, like, one standing heavy punch. It's like 16's "I HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS" but absolutely terrible. It's peak Dan.
For anyone interested in learning the Dan lore, he sometimes shouts おやじー！ (oyajiii!), for example when he does his raging demon. That means, "Fatheeeer!"
It's also another nod to KoF/AoF. Yuri Sakazaki (Ryo's sister) also shouts "Faaaatheeer!" when losing a round. Thou she uses "Oto-san" instead of "Oyaji", which I think is a more respecful way of saying It.
@@tomasparant8901 That's right, お父さん (otousan) is with the honorifics "お、o" and "さん、san", making it more respectful. "Oyaji" is more like how we would say "pops" or "old man", something familiar and warmer :)
I remember beating Cyber akuma once with Dan, BY TOSSING AN AUTOGRAPH TO HIM! That was the most hype I had in this game, because that's Dan best projectile in distance, but does a pixel of damage after it's thrown (and also the game has a super like ending if you beat an opponent with it).
@@likky1 To be fair, Dan has the "Mr. Satan Problem". On his own, Dan is a competent fighter and can even use a ki attack, which a good portion of the Street Fighter cast can't even do! Standing next to, like salarymen, Dan is a Martial Arts Master! Standing next to Ryu or M. Bison, though, he's a joke!

We all know Dan was created to mock SNK (Ryo's Outfit & Moveset, Robert's Look and Yuri's Win Pose) And my god Dan's Ending is a punch-in-the-face to Ryo's Art Of Fighting Ending at 20:29 That is why Dan is one of the best joke characters in fighting game history
20:30 A long time ago, I’ve always wondered about Dan’s ending because Dan and Akuma are not related. Then I realized that it is direct reference to Art of Fighting 2 😂. Ryo and his sister Yuri finds out that Mr. Karate was their father. Capcom and SNK were trading blows back then 😂
It's hilarious that, despite being non-canon, Capcom went so far as to make Dan's ending a parody of Art of Fighting's ending - making Akuma, of all characters, Dan's father, and randomly introducing a Yuri stand-in.
Imagine if Max was able to do an entire Team Dan in this game the same way he was able to with Akuma in MvC 2 for Akuma legacy?? He'd still be trying to beat this game into 2021...
Years ago when I played this at an arcade my mom would tell me that my eyesight might go bad from it, watching this now and struggling with so many flashes on the screen... Maybe she was onto something.
Sfv is my first street fighter. Friend got me into it and into maximillian. I like fem seth. Her tps and flips m spins are so anime. Her voice lines are so akward funny and she hot. I think dan is funny tho. And he rocks that pink lol.
Where every other Street Fighter character has been upgraded to Super Saiyan levels of power, Dan is still Dan. Gotta love how his ending directly references the ending to Art of Fighting.

"In Dan's ending in Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Dan's sister, Yuriko Hibiki, appears to prevent him finishing off Cyber-Akuma saying "Don't you know who he is? He's our...", parodying the ending of the original Art of Fighting where Ryo was about to kill Mr. Karate before being told he is their father by Yuri (whom Yuriko was designed after)."
Individual fighter theme song plus the announcer announcing each hyper combo is what made me love this game much more. The small details make the difference.
Spiderman has always looked insanely good in these VS games. His dynamic battle stance, the opening, taunt and closing animations and his attacks, which definitely appear to have influenced his 3D games combat animations. I don't think that, personally, he has ever looked better. Love his voice too.
Dan's ending in Marvel vs Street Fighter is a parody of the ending from the first Art Of Fighting game, which is fitting since his design is a mocking send off of Ryo and Robert

Wow i remember listening to that repetitive quote from an Art of fighting arcade, you could be playing any game but suddenly you could hear Yuri saying: "THAT MAN IS OUR, THAT MAN IS OUR..." when you played with Robert or Ryo, the fight agaisnt Mr. Karate ended in the same way. Those guys at capcom really did the joke with Dan ending in this game.

Fun fact: since the game allows you to keep beating up your downed opponent after you win a fight, you can actually scuffle with your team partner after beating Cyber Akuma, the IA taking over if you keep hitting him/her, mirroring the fight at the end of X-Men vs Street Fighter. I used this so much as therapy since the Ps EX version demanded you beat arcade mode (this meant 1 v1 since the only way to play 2 v 2 was mirror matching) in one go, no losses to be able to unlock both final bosses. Fun times!
Dood, the Otoko Michi at the end didn't miss, it can be tech'ed out like a regular throw, just like Yoga Strike. Also, 3 things you missed out: 1. When starting a fight with Dan, in the VS screen press and keep down LK to see a special Dan intro. 2. Make QCF QCF + Taunt to see Dan perform Chouhatsu Densetsu, the wierd super you were looking for. 3. If you win a fight with the move where he thows his picture, the background changes like when you win with a hyper move.
These CVS2/QSound games have soundtracks way better than seems warranted given the noisy arcade setting they're made for. MvSF, MvC1, SF Alpha 1&2, D&D: Shadow Over Mystara, Mega Man Power Fighters... all amazingly good.

I had no idea the ending was a reference to art of fighting. Watching you play as spidey is a dream come true. Zero practice and you are already more proficient in this game than me back in the day. This video put a smile on my face. Thanks dood.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Hyper Collection, an upcoming compilation title featuring 5 games in the series containing Marvel Super Heroes, MVC, MVC2 MVC3 & UMVC3, is already in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X also slated for a 2022 release. There are no versions planned for development on Gen 8 systems due to shift in focus on Gen 9
man this brings back so many memories the music the sweet air throws that all look like they hit like a ton of bricks I don't remember dan being this bad and I certainly don't remember him having that special that is like raging demon for the longest time I remember thinking that Dan's ending in this game was canon to think it was just an elaborate joke...
