Cyber Security Day In the Life! (18 year old Cyber Security Engineer) 

Yeah I’d love to see more videos. I’ve been doing onsite networking for awhile, but because of covid I’m looking to make a change into cybersecurity in the hopes of working remotely at home , and this video is very inspiring.

I don't actually do coding, and not a ton of positions in cyber security do from what I'm aware. The knowledge always helps though!

How it works?

I’m glad I could help in any way possible… maybe some questions that could help you are 1: What are you good at? And then 2: What do you love/enjoy to do? Then 3: At what points could those intersect? If they don’t really no worries! You can always expand your skills and it’s a lifelong thing, but find something that you enjoy or at least think you could if at all possible. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions

Also something I’d add is as long as you sort of enjoy cyber security, it can give you a good career and then in your free time you can explore other hobbies / passions while still having a stable base of income

I'm studying Computer Science so I will advise you that math is needed. Coding requires a lot of basic math problems.

It can be tough yes for entry level. Why? Because you have hundreds of people applying for that job. If you're in college try to get an internship and that can be your way in. Otherwise it'll be tough to get straight into security. :/

I'm no expert on Security engineering but essentially it's the same. You will need Comptia a+ >> Comptia network+ >> Comptia security + >> CySA+ (CEH or PenTest+ for higher level after getting into the field) . This will get you into 'Entry level Cyber security analyst'. Of course you need to improve your CV and Linkin Profile, which will make you have a higher chance in getting a job in that field. He probably have to go through all of this. But should take you less than 3 - 5 Months if you study 10/20 hours a week. Which is a pain but it's worth it 😁

If you're looking for cybersecurity degrees, I can only assume that the topic of "law" is maybe a cyber law degree? If so you'd probably be more interested in the engineering portion. However as I'm not familiar with the exact university etc. that you're applying for I can't say for certain.

Depends on your certification and experience. You can expect to be at 60- 80k a year starting off.

Information technology and computer science are basically the same thing if I'm not wrong

Computer science involves much more math, logic, and programming courses. If you get a degree in CS, you should come out knowing about algorithms, computation times, programming, software dev cycle, and math. I majored in CS, so I know this. I do not know the information tech side as well, but from what I have seen that is more of a managerial/business side of computers. I'd compare it like this: CS you will learn to create programs, and info tech, you will learn to use programs in a way to visualize data. Which degree you get really depends on the kind of cybersecurity job you want to be working in. Cybersecurity is a broad field as well, and some roles are more technical than others.

A BA helps if you cant get job experience, and then stack on the certs. all in all it depends on the employer

Technically I'd say a B.S. (So Bachelors of Science in something like Cyber, versus a Bachelors of Art or whatever in something like philosophy :P) SYBR DARC is correct, it does depend on the employer. Mine really wanted the degree's which I got anyways just to be safe for future jobs. Though in private industry if you can demonstrate competence you can probably do it without a degree. you dont need a degree. there are many certificate programs and bootcamps for cyber security.

Yep I do prefer Linux or macOS but generally in the workplace everyone is sort of forced to use windows for compatibility with software etc

@@Capybaracomputers Kind of, I am still struggling with some concepts but as a trainee I feel I get better every week It's the highest salary I have had in my life so far but mostly because I get paid in foreign currency in a third world country so yeah

Unfortunately I'm not going to provide that information for you, but I will say salary varies much based on location and who you're working for. You can look up average salaries for positions like this but in the end it can be way more or much lower depending on position and location.
