Cyberpsychosis Has Finally Been Solved! Cyberpunk 2077 Cyberpsychosis Explained! 

One thing i forgot to mention: Mike Pondsmith explained cyberpsychosis by comparing it to "roid rage", which is another "condition" that doesn't actually exist. "Roid ragers" are just normal people coping with mental illness, but because of their size and physical abilities, society classifies them differently, when they are just the small minority of steroid users who become violent and unhinged. I believe he also cited a study that explained this.

For those that didn't watch the whole video and stopped listening when he said "cyberpsychosis isn't real", he's saying that because going off in-game lore it's less some mythical condition that turns you into a feral beast JuSt BeCaUsE oF tHe CyBeRwArE, and rather a cascade of abnormal events that ends in a violent outburst- that violent outburst is the REAL cyberpsychosis. Instead of snapping because "too many implants lmao", it's their environment that makes them snap, and having their implants is just one factor contributing to their mental breakdown, not the cause. Most of them don't even have that much cyberware. It's poor mental health or overdosing on mind altering substances. Also, the "cyberpsychosis" V gets is literally just shallow fanservice. If it weren't, and V actually did become a "cyberpsycho" as we in the community label it, we shouldn't be able to resume normal gameplay. After all, we supposedly turned into something that marks you for death and apparently can't just be shrugged off- if it could be as easily as V does (even accounting for plot armor), it wouldn't be such a prevalent issue in the world. *EDIT:* THIS ISN'T EVEN CYBERPSYCHOSIS, IT'S THE EDGERUNNER PERK'S FURY STATE! WTF ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT CALLING IT CYBERPSYCHOSIS!?

Zariah Hughes was sacrificed to become a proxy for the AI called Lillith. The whole reason that scene is so spooky is that Lillith has a near "black wall" level of control of cyberware. She wasn't actually teleporting. She was messing with your vision with Quick Hacks. Its similar to "Reboot Optics", but closer to how real AI now removes things from pictures and video. She was just using the quick hack to keep you off balance and get the drop on you.

V can have cyberpsychosis from patch 2.0. You need to install near max implants & in combat your screen could turn yellow and there will be laughter.

While I like and appreciate this video, I have to disagree with you on one main point. Cyberpsychosis is real. As I noticed, some have even brought up my point of being able to cause Cyberpsychosis. Not only is it in the game, but it's also shown in the video for the ending theme song of the anime. Even CD Projekt Red has hinted at a lot of the Cyberware in game and in their world has been rented, and therefore others might/would have possible remote access to it, and that Cyberpsychosis is inflicted on people for various reasons (mega-corp are evil). Just my two cents.

This actually made a lot of sense. I was expecting there to be some link between chrome and insanity or maybe remote control bs. This sounds way more plausible and likely. Thanks for opening my eyes on this. Will make my playthrough a lot more interesting

The examples you list in the game are specific to the video game. In the game books, they make it pretty clear that its not just a psychological problem. That the cyberware does in fact lower your humanity. And when you lose a certain amount of humanity, you lose your grip and go Cyberpsycho. If anything, you can say that while all of these people have these traumas and pre-existing psychological problems. The lack of humanity from having cyberware in you makes it harder to process and deal with. The secondary thing about the video game is that it heavily hints that in some cases, someone was purposely pushing people over the edge to make cyberpsychos. So yes, not all of them were true CPs...but its also clear from Edgerunners and the gaming books that there are naturally occurring CPs where healthy people get the cyberware, are fine for the most part, but at some point cross an implant barrier that messes with their mind and causes them to go CP.

The anime made this topic so interesting, I’d love the chance to die as a “real” cyberpsycho like how the anime portrays it. It’d be fun because players love maxing out stats and min-maxing, but would they care about how it affected the game ending if you went full psycho and died because you wanted to enjoy a god-mode play through? But maybe you get a “ standard” ending if you don’t pump the chrome pedal too hard.

Would be interesting if the immuno-blockers were just placebos

You can cause cyber psychosis on enemies and the Edge runner perks also gives it to you at times

Lol why is everyone forgetting about "normal" psychosis? Maybe everyone in the dark future is just pointing their finger at the chrome when someone goes nuts, because it's easier than digging deeper into someone's personality and background

Your logic that because its a mechanic in the ttrpg then it doesn't exist in the game doesn't make sense. It is explained clearly what cybercychosis. A lost of humanity. You're trying to use cold hard logic to make what is essentially fantasy make sense. The technology in cyberpunk is so advanced it might as well be magic

Cyberpsychosis is just as the term from the 90s for "going postal." Now, we just call them mass shooters.

Great video love the breakdowns and the lore explanation. i jut wanna add that v is his/her own unique case as well givin that Johnny is all jumbled around in there you could agrue that because johnny is slowly taking over the body that he can hypotheticaly take on some of the mental strain that would other wise effect vs mind givin the physical trauma they have been though which can have a big effect on the human mind causeing some sort of mental break but dont because johnny is there acting as a sort of mental sponge just a thought anyways.
