I think you can help me understand. I'm in my last semester, and we were given a task to create a project in any domain using any technology. I chose to work on network scanning. I used Wireshark and Nmap, and I created virtual machines, including Kali Linux and two vulnerable machines (Android and Windows 7). I also wrote a script in Bash to simplify the scanning process. However, my instructor told me that this is not considered a project. 😢
Homelabs aren't considered as projects in colleges sadly, unless you are developing something. You can try to develop something like basic file integrity monitoring system and introduce it to your instructor again as a rough idea or you can go for something like steganography. You can also ask if you can do something with SIEM and SOAR. Hopefully this gives you some insight and best of luck for the project.🤙
Keep the videos coming!! 🔥🔥🔥 Are you utilizing the cloud for your VMs or your own PCs resources? if so, what specs would you recommend in a PC that can handle a VM with Windows Server on it?
I have a dedicated server for VMs, you could look for a cheap used server with 32-128GB RAM or if you want to host it on your laptop, I would recommend at least a 16GB RAM laptop.
I would do 32gb of ram tbh. Running vms at 2gb of ram sucks if you have 2+ VM. I just installed 64gb of ram on my laptop so I can do pretty much whatever. Well worth it and super fun
