I ride from Muyinga to Gitega, the political capital of Burundi, across a big part of the poorest country in the world according to the United Nations.
Once again, I have some mechanical issues with my trike...

@@Dan-xx5jq and am very sure he didnot meet dead bodies lying along the streets. By the way health care services are not got only from hospitals. Some people take years without going to hospitals and stay healthy. During covid era here in Uganda many rich people who isolated and sought expensive health care died yet the poor who were roaming the streets looking for survival remained alive. Am not saying that poor people dont die but i mean, God cares for us all. If the political leaders dont care, God cares. And people die everywhere. Even in developed countries people die and they died alot during covid era. Different countries have different pronlems. So my dear, poverty is not always measured through GDP only.

you are making a valid point actually, because if we change their wealth to present dollar value it will blow your mind but at the same time it's capitalistic world and we can't act ignorant or convince everyone, humans are selfish and evil. Eventually their population is going to increase and their wealth will be limited to them only while the services and system are poor hence they won't have a bargaining power which might lead to them being taken advantage of.

Kino you are right The GDP per Capita narrative is a myth that the west and Europe use to undermine African countries. Because they know African countries majority of people grow their own food, and build their houses on their lands literally living a decent life, but because they don't generate money into the economy the GDP will be low but actually not poor in reality. European countries were built on industrialisation, people don't have land, they stay in cities meaning that if one doesn't have money he can't survive. Here in our countries people can survive eating nice food through out even without earning a dollar. Africans we just have to change our mindset... GDP per Capita is not our thing here
@francoodeny891
@francoodeny891 Месяц назад
As a kenyan nice point, income is relative, lifestyle of one person is different from lifestyle of another, if you sleep on a 6x6 king size bed and i sleep on 3x4 comoftable bed that does not mean, you have great sleep than mean, if you spend more than me that does not mean you enjoy life more than me, if am content then am having a comfortable life, same with GDP per capita if you have a higher GDP and i have less, that does't mean am poor, it means am content but not poor.

First and foremost, I want to let you know how much my wife and I enjoy your videos. My wife, in particular, is a devoted fan who watches them religiously, and her enthusiasm has gotten me hooked as well. We truly appreciate the effort and passion you pour into your content. However, I felt compelled to comment on the title of your latest video, "Cycling across the poorest country in WORLD." While I understand that GDP per capita might be used as a measure, I found the title to be somewhat degrading. After watching the video, I noticed even you acknowledged that the people of Burundi are not as poor as the title suggests. Your journey across Africa has shown that wealth isn't solely about money, and the richness of culture, resilience, and community spirit are just as important. It would be great if the titles of your videos could reflect the positive aspects of the countries you visit, rather than focusing on negative statistics. Thank you for sharing your amazing journey with us. We look forward to more of your adventures!

God has created plenty of food & water for the poor in the Equator Belt . I saw loads of Matoke and Mogo people were carrying on their bikes. I was born in Uganda and the terrain vegetation weather is the same hence was feeling nostalgic watching this vlog.The soil is red rich in Iron. People are humble and friendly. You brought entertainment for the kids. I was smiling throughout the vlog. Seems like they are more comfortable speaking in Swahili as it is close to Tanzania border. So you should switch to Jambo now. I am impressed you can count perfectly in Swahili. You must be close to South Africa by now as your upload are very late.

If you listen to Kino. He says people are poor by GDP. That's a measure used globally. However people meet their basic needs without money. For instance, they grow their own food, build their own houses etc.

If you own your house, grow your own food or can afford to buy food and you're happy then one is not poor. YOU'RE RICH. In the west we have the big houses, cars and all material things but yet we are depressed, sick going to the hospital for all sort of ailments, and had to worry about if you lose your job all the material things will be taken away. That is not rich.

I discovered Muyinga for the first time in 2018 when I went to Burundi to visit my family. I went to Muyinga to see a person with whom I started elementary school in 1959 in a place called Bomba in Commune Tangara, Ngozi Province. I visited Kobero border crossing and it was a wierd feeling because back in 1985 I had been on the other side of the border in Kabanga (Tanzania). I was living in Tanzania as a refugee, I traveled from Dodoma to Kabanga to meet my dad. Somehow he knew a family there that hosted us for two days and I didn't have to pay for a room in a lodging/local small hotel.
