Very valuable and informative information. While watching this video more questions would randomly pop in my head, than later in the video those questions were answered. Way to leave no stone unturned. Thank you so much Brian!!
Awesome video Brian!! I really enjoyed this video. You answered so many questions I had about the cycling of breeding boas. I really appreciate all of your videos and knowledge you share with all of us boa enthusiasts. As always I look forward to seeing more of your content. Thanks again Brian keep up the hard work!
You could make a book out of that journal. Why do you cycle your younger boas if you're not breeding them? Is it good for them to have that "natural" cycle in their life or is it to prepare them for breeding later on down the road?
Do you recommend cycling strictly for breeding purposes or for overall health? I've never cycled and don't presently plan to breed, but I do want to enjoy my boas in the best of health. Thanks!
I sell on these videos and on Fauna Classifieds. Cost varies and some like the dwarf boas and Colombian boas may be ok for a 13 year old with parental involvement.
It's generally preferable to move the female to the male so the male stays in his own cage and will be more likely to mate. That said, I've had successful litters using either way.
My female is getting larger by the day, scale separation noticed today. This is her first time breeding. I didn’t see a textbook football ovulation. I still have over a week left of cycling. I have seen my male decline interest this last week also. Is this her ovulation or do you think she is possibly gravid? Should I stop cycling and go back to normal temps? She has been coiled in a heat conservation position for the last 5ish days. I’m stressed and don’t want to mess anything up. Pairing is a snow x ghost het kahl, first pairing of boas I have ever done. Thank you and thank you to anyone else who chimes in!
They have been paired since early October. I have read the more complete boa guide over and over. Just stressing over heat and if I should stop cycling the heat at night since she just stays coiled all the time. I fear the night drops are not ideal for newborn development if she is gravid. Maybe I’m over reacting 🤷♂️
