I am from Czech republic and I have always been fan of all the Czech riders but Sven I could not overlooked - NEVER. Sven was for me a WOLF on the bike, so precious and I just loved his style on the bike. Till now I have had no idea that this was going on between the riders. It must have been so hard. Thank you SVEN for being YOURSELF!!!

Happy to stumble onto this video, so thank you for posting it and adding the subtitles. The first cyclocross WC I ever attended was in St.-Michielsgestel. Following European cyclocross from America was not easy in those days. It is great to be able to put that race in a greater context.

If De Clercq was strong enough in St-Michiels-Gestel, he should have closed down the gap to Groenendaal himself. Nys was 22years old and had instructions from his teammanager not to hunt down his teammate if he was in front. De Clercq knew that very well. It was a black day for us Belgian cycling fans but the best man won that day.
The best man did not win that day lol. Groenendaal was a big cheater. He told the organisers to change the parcours multiple times. On all the other WC races he got owned.

"Why didn't anybody ask why De Clercq hadn't tried to catch Groenendael?" Duh ... because he would not have finished in the top two then. Nys would have benefited and De Clercq would have come off looking like a total fool. I can see why Nys did what he did, but to pretend that HE was the victim is fairly disgusting.
