Cycling Finland - a thousand lakes and a zillion mosquitoes | Cycling around the planet - Episode 8 

Over 4 months ago I left home in the Netherlands with the plan of cycling to Denmark and taking the ferry to Iceland. But a few days after I left, many countries in Europe started closing their borders
in response to a spreading virus. Instead of taking the ferry to Iceland, I took a ferry to Sweden.
For 3 months I cycled through Sweden, along its coast, through its vast forests, in snow, in sun, in freezing temperatures.
I crossed Sweden´s highest elevated road and cycled between walls of snow on the Wilderness road.
The beauty of Norway was beyond anything that I could have imagined. Epic mountain views, natural wonders, white sandy beaches and beautiful places to wildcamp everywhere.
After almost 9000 kilometers I made it to North Cape. Sitting in the giant globe, I soaked up the midnight sun and continued to dream of my next destination. How nice would it be to cycle from North Cape to Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.
So now I started cycling south, through Finland and Lapland. Finland is a large country with lots and lots of nature. It is known as the land of a thousand lakes. I didn´t often take the time to stop and enjoy the scenery though, because as soon as you stopped you got overwhelmed by a zillion mosquitoes.
