Seriously badass. I drove solo up both the Dempster and Dalton in June 2022. I’d be driving along, thinking I was a badass and then come across someone on a bicycle. You are the badass! Great job.

Did the Dempster and down to Vancouver with my son post university. Only the ice road to Tuk from Inuvik existed then. Started in Inuvik in July. It was breathtaking. Well done

Hello Jeremy! Happy that RU-vid popped you up in our feed. The Dempster in our bucket list as well. In June 2021, we flew to Deadhorse and cycled the Dalton Highway and this looks very similar to it. Thank you for sharing and cheers from Florida! ~Ron & Petra

Very nice presentation. It's on my bucket list to do the Dempster. My biggest fears are Mosquitoes, bears and muddy roads.

June 21. Still lots of snow and ice. I did the drive at the end of July. Everything was lush green and many sunny days. I remember once in heavy rain I saw a cyclist get caught in a heavy downfall of water. No place to hide. No trees, caves etc. just wide open space. You sure a Hardy bunch.😊

I agree it anyone who cycles the Dempster is an odd bunch... I have fond memories from that trip while sitting under a warm blanket now 💕

I remember passing a bike rider, right in the middle of a huge downpour. I stopped and let him in my van. No trees, rocks caves nothing to hide from the rain. Just pitch a tent.

Bravo

Kudos to you. I was in Tuk from 20-23 June, with my Toyota Sequoia. May have passed you on the 23rd around noon, while driving south from Tuk to Inuvik. It takes a hardy soul to cycle the Dempster.

I rode from Anchorage to Tuk for a little under two months from June-July 2019. There was minimal snow when I was there. No sea ice at Tuk. Tons of mosquitos. And yes, the physical brutality was unmatched compared to anything prior ever in life. Exactly at 3:00 in your video, on the cluster of bushes and trees to your right, I encountered a bull moose extremely close. We spooked each other. At around 7:38, that area I call The Plains of Infinity. In July, the flowers bloom to the horizon and beyond, and it is a mesmerizing white blanket of flowers that looks like snow. The view up the climb to the NWT border was incomprehensible. North of Inuvik in the tundra, there were fields of cloud berries at their peak. I was alone for nearly 100% of the journey. I once didn’t see another vehicle for 20 hours. But like with you, people did make sure I was alright. I met multiple cyclists, but all were going south and only north of Eagle plains. I saw many animals throughout. Grizzly bears included. Also, your video and editing style is extremely different compared to me. I didn’t have a drone. I took many still-photos and had a gopro. It seems like a very difference experience with people. But I like what you created. It is different from other footage I have seen.

Awesome video. Stumbled onto it today while researching some bike touring options for this year. Thinking of riding to Tuk from here in Winnipeg (and back) this summer. Just subscribed.

@@JeremyEll One of the things I'm researching now are the appropriate resources for documenting this wonderful experience. Mind sharing links or resources that you used for capturing your video and audio recordings? Love your drone footage!
@JeremyEll
@JeremyEll Год назад
@@rchurchward the equipment I used for filming is included in the video description. Everything was filmed by myself. I also used a tripod in many cases. The drone was often tracking me so its essentially automatic and I just keep cycling while it followed me.

@@JeremyEll You're awesome! Did you track your ride using a bike computer? I'm researching one that I could use that is powerful enough to track via satellite that far north.,
@JeremyEll
@JeremyEll Год назад
@@rchurchward Yes I tracked my ride with a Garmin GPS. No problems for accuracy or getting a signal.

I saw beavers and a few black bears. I was told there was heard of Muscox north of Fort McPherson but I never saw them which is too bad. I was looking forward to getting photos of them. Lots of birds could be heard in the grass but very hard to spot! Glad you enjoyed the video. 🤓
