On day 2 we cycled 55 miles from our Airbnb in Brockport to a hotel in Newark NY. Along the way we met a family traversing the canal in their boat from Montauk NY to Chicago. Jan had a mechanical issue that was fixed at Sugar's Bike shop in Spencerport. The trail was a mix of asphalt, crushed stone and dirt. Fantastic ride that I recommend for all abilities.

Hi Shane, it was a great ride, 95% off road. I hope you can make it to the States soon. Looks like my Norway trip won't be until 2022. Thanks again and all the best, Steve

What an amazing adventure. Glad Jan got her bike fixed. Watching the boats in the locks was amazing.

Hi William, we were lucky to be close to a good bike shop. Those locks are an engineering marvel. Thanks again and all the best, Steve

That breakfast looked amazing. Glad you found a good bike shop too. The canal looks amazing. Just got back on the bike and doing some 20 milers to get back into shape. Thanks for the video and take care, Al

Hi Al, good to hear from you. The breakfast was amazing along with the Airbnb we stayed at the night before. The Erie canal was a great ride. More videos to come! I'm so glad you are "back in the saddle" and making progress. I look forward to seeing your next adventures once you are fully recovered and filming again. All the best, Steve

That was a nice section of trail. What did they find wrong with Jan's dropper post?
@steveretiredandcycling
@steveretiredandcycling 3 года назад
Hi Tony, it was a great ride 90% off road. Jan's dropper post cable had undetected chafing to the point of breakage. With the cable being internally routed, it wasn't an easy fix. The bike industry is making things more complex and selling them as "enhancements". Last month one of her disk brake pistons started leaking. With the worldwide parts shortage, it wasn't a quick fix either. Thanks and I look forward to seeing your next adventure. Take care, Steve

@@steveretiredandcycling I'm glad they were able to get her up and running quickly. I have a Yeti with Sram 4 piston brakes and they are a nightmare!!! No more Sram hydraulic brakes for me. The fatbike has Shimano hydraulics and I've never had a single issue with them. My road bikes have good old calipers and I still love them. Lol

What tires are you running Steve? I am looking at replacing the stock WTBs on my Renegade. Want something more road oriented
@steveretiredandcycling
@steveretiredandcycling 3 года назад
Hi David, I'm running Donnelly MSO 40x700 tubeless tires at 35/40psi. They are similar to the stock WTB's. They roll fast enough and still give a supple ride. If I want a faster ride, I take my road bike for a spin with Continental gator skins at 90psi. I guess tires are a personal decision depending on what works for us. Thanks again, Steve
