We are taking a bike tour through Norway. It's quite chilly this morning. We follow cycle route 4, which runs over an unpaved path on the south side of the Hallingdal and avoids the busy N7.
The traces of Storm Hansje are visible along the path, the storm has had a major impact in this region. The path runs parallel to the railway line and goes up and down. A little further on, the cycle route follows a quiet regional road to Nesbyen.
We make a stop here before we start the long climb to the plateau. The 2910 climbs very gradually to an altitude of 850m. Here too, repair work as a result of the storm is visible everywhere. At the mountain lakes the climb levels off and on the plateau it goes up and down a bit. The road is quiet but descends only slightly for 35 km.
After a short descent we reach Rødberg where we do some shopping and look for a campsite. There are a number of campsites in the Uvdal with houses. The Persgård campsite is located a bit outside the village and is beautifully situated on a lake. There are a lot of mosquitoes and fairly basic facilities with only a shower and two toilets. No kitchen and washing up outside so we have to cook in front of the tent as usual. Fortunately it is windy and the mosquitoes are not bothered much.
