Today I was working landscaping at a nearby amusement park that has canada geese and peacocks. I walked by a family of geese (the babies were about twice the size of these cygnets) eating grass and they were so fluffy and cuuteee ❤ The parents didn't know me and were pretty cautious, but right before I walked past them I gave a respectful nod and they immediately went back to eating. Such wonderful birds, they understood my intent to not bother them perfectly Later, I came back and saw the family having nap time 😂 a parent was on either end of a large pile of cuddling baby geese. As I worked I kept looking back at them and a few minutes later they were back to foraging 😂
Thanks for sharing, sounds like a lovely experience seeing that family. Canada Geese can be pretty fearsome! I find the way you approach birds makes a big difference, I’ve seen people rushing up to Swans which frightens them and causes them to hiss as a defence mechanism.
@@SwanFamilyandFriends So true, they can be strong and fierce, but they only are because they don't want their loved ones to be harmed (they view us as a threat and I agree lol) They are extremely good at reading body movements and subtle details that show our mood. In a lot of the "geese attacking people" videos the person is backing away and making half-hearted swings to try to get the goose to leave. The goose seems to take that as a sign of submission or weakness then they show that person they are willing to fight. Man, I love canada geese so much ♥ I'm not sure how I learned this body language that tells them I mean no harm, but today a female peacock decided to join me in the flower bed I was weeding and was often close enough to touch (I didn't because I know she probably wouldn't like that). I love my job so much 🥹
@@silverfox9004 Glad to hear that you have a job you love, working outside sounds good to me. Yeah people always look a bit silly when they start panicking over Geese attacking. I never see them at my pond but see thousands flying over some days, mostly pink footed Geese. There is a place north of here that vast numbers of them congregate.
@@SwanFamilyandFriends 😂 it's amazing how intimidating a confident animal can be, despite their size. Here in utah, swans are very rare. I can only remember seeing one wild swan while in a wetland wildlife refuge, and almost all the other times I saw a swan were probably at a wonderful place called Tracey Aviary. it's amazing how different parts of the world have different wildlife
