Wow. as someone who only got really into cymbals recently I wouldn’t have initially noticed that last k con needed any work but my goodness that cymbal has been really brought to life. Just a delightful thwack to the sticking whilst maintaining that lovely k con wash. No doubt a very happy customer.

Tim: I just discovered your video clips and I want to convey a "cheers" to you! I've been around Cymbals for the majority of my life (I am now 60 y.o.) and thought I had a keen sense of what they are about. I know doing research via books and human chatter enables one to become wiser(hopefully) but your RU-vid clips conveying your Cymbal-smith skills profoundly put things in perspective with metal Pies and assist in acquiring a clearer understanding of the anatomical principles of a good(and bad) sounding Cymbal...Well done!

I have a K Con Medium Thin Low that had a flat spot in it, low tension spot. I hammered it from the bottom in that spot and made it way better.

So Awesome. Your attention to sonic frequency is spot on. I've got to send you my meinl prototypes rides. That last zildjian had a nice crash to it for being a ride and the bell turned out perfect.

Great video. Your mod to the Masters Dry is still plenty articulate and is how Paiste should make them to begin with! Their "Dry" should have been the "Extra Dry" IMO.

Great video! Regarding the K Con 22 med. low or K Constinople bells. Have you had any idea? On whats the bell on the Bounce ride, & the Kcon Thin Overhammered? Are they the same bell? Are those bells any different from the K con med low?
@ReverieDrumCo
@ReverieDrumCo 11 месяцев назад
Yeah they are a bit different. The bounce has a wider bell whereas the Thin Overhammered and the medium low are the same (I believe). The wider bell has more overtones and a darker sound to my ear.

Hi Timothy. Many thanks for these vere useful didactical videos. About the problem of the Diril. There was that area that gave when you pressed down. You said you were going to hammer from bottom to prop her up. But hammering from bottom doesn't make this zone further loose?
@ReverieDrumCo
@ReverieDrumCo Год назад
Not necessarily. In general, working the underside will loosen the structure, but if the work on top has passed a "tipping point" It will cause another kind of looseness that can only be ironed out via bottom hammering.

Man, knowing what they charge the unsuspecting customer these days, that Kerope should have been illegal to sell ... you got the most out of it in the end, but that's how it should've sounded like from the start. Poor Zildjian.

It's like manufacturers who sell new trucks and cars, then you buy one and take it to a shop to get souped up with engine mods, new performance wheels and tires, etc. There's factory, then there's elective enhancements.
