So basically Blacks, Hispanics and Native Americans are the true chosen people of The Most High. That is why our history is not taught in school, other than slavery, they want to hide this from us. I introduced my 11 year son to his first visceral visuals of slavery by watching Harriet on MLK day together. It was around the same age my parents introduced me to Mandela”s story. Throughout the movie Harriet, he kept asking in disbelief, “They could do that?! Was that legal?!” Then we listened to this song afterwards and he gave me the biggest hug and kiss - because he was so moved by it. Thanks Cynthia for a beautiful portrayal in the movie and for following up with such an inspirational song. Your talent in both is incredible!

This movie and song should have so many people thinking. They couldn't keep us down then and can't now. So people have said some terrible things about her playing this part, but there was no one better for it. "Stand up" and teach our sons and daughters that Harriet Tubman is so much more than a 28 sometimes 29 day mention. Anyone else can't stop watching?... I love this so much had to playlist it.
My granddaughter is in kindergarten..and she was been taught this song..she sings it every day..I knew nothing of Harriet Tubman when i was her age..she has good teachers...it takes a village..we have to hold hands and teach our children what they need to know...the past..the present...and what direction to take for the future ...
