This is an awesome episode! Nikolay, you ask questions the way interviewers ask which will help candidates to prepare for interviews and how to think from project perspectives as well. And these kind of episodes help to gain more knowledge. Thanks both of you!
I believe I know the answer, haha. A year ago, I conducted POCs on both frameworks and found that Playwright was 30-40% faster than Cypress. This involved running pretty complex tests across browsers, making API calls to verify the accuracy of the page display, and conducting basic AA/AAA accessibility scans with Axe. However, the feature that actually sealed the deal for switching 12 teams to Playwright was test tracing. It makes the debugging of the tests running on CI so much easier. It seems like Cypress is playing catch up with PW :)
The debugging experience with PW is nice :) I'm actually surprised that you prefer that over Cypress though. Cypress debug experience is pretty awesome
Playwright so much faster, didnt find much pros for Cypress.. :D even I like their browser extension, writes codes behalf of u@@test-automation-experience
@@test-automation-experience We switched from Selenium to Playwright. Our common way with Playwright started from early version of 1.0.6 I think. And today we love everything! Shard option, division to projects, the syntax, regular updates. We also tried switching to Cypress, but it runs inside iFrames, so it doesn’t work well with our tested application. I also have youtube channel for Hebrew speakers where I upload a lot of content related to Playwright. I’m a big fun of it.
