The last time I played there was over 20 years ago. That made it the 2nd time I played it. I now say that if on my death bed I played it 3 times, I will have failed in life. 🙂
Played here a bunch of times From 2000-2008 or so. Got too difficult for me. Last time here I played 9 holes and shot 46 from blues and got thrown off course for slow play. They wanted to credit me for back nine but told them I would not be back. Loved this course but my last time there I was put in with 3 guys, one a priest, who couldn’t play. Took 2 1/2 hrs to play front nine and we were tossed out of there. Lovely course but you need to hit the ball well and be consistent in your carries. At 75, I’m just not good enough to play here anymore. 13 is especially difficult unless you’re in complete control of the golf ball.
I’ve got to disagree with you on the course conditions. I played there in early August and conditions were terrible, especially the tee boxes which were very torn up. Fairways were pretty hacked up too since nobody seems to replace divots or fill them with sand. The greens were in bad shape as well since they had dozens of pitch marks all over them. The course uses GPS in the carts with electronic sensing of the cart location to prevent driving in restricted areas which can be a positive, bet our cart kept getting shut down on the cart paths! It was areal PITA. Kept having to back up and drive off the left side of the paths to navigate the course. I will agree with you that this is a difficult course and not for novices or higher handicap golfers. I will not be going back there this year.
