Now that several companies are doing a torque sensor on a hub drive, I am waiting for one of these smart manufactures to throw a map switch on the handlebar and you select between cadence or torque. I believe it would be very doable. Could get your work out one day, take an easy fun, ride the next.
Hi. I have this bike. You can still ride it very easy without much work. I have a cadence bike as well. I will take the torque sensor bike any day over the cadence sensor. It just gives you so much more control over the ride.
@@PapaSteve1 I am a senior citizen, looking for first time at e-bikes, for substitution of car to do errands around neighborhood when possible. Cadence seems to also be a better control of ride to me, you just don't pedal to go slower. But it will still give you top end speed by pedaling easily. On the other hand, my leg strength won't allow me to get maximum speed with a torque sensor ..... so I lose control with this Ranger ebike, torque sensor takes it away. First post above is correct, the e-bike companies should put both sensors on every bike, and give us a toggle switch. This is not a fair substitution taking away cadence for many of us. I'm not doing this for a workout. Mowing the lawn already does that for me. 😀
And I will say, this right here shows the need in the market for such a switch. Different people have different needs. I believe a lot of people would pay a little bit more to have the choice on their own bike. I also believe as a manufacturer, it could be done profitably. It would not cost as much to implement as the market would pay for it. But the two responses here show it could be very viable.
I love that more ebikes are including torque sensors in general. This is huge! Never rode a bike with multiple systems but Id love to see this integrated.
Looks like a sweet bike. The lock out feature is for when you want to stand up and pump your legs up a hill and don't want some of that energy absorbed by the suspension, and then when you are at the top of the hill, you unlock it and have suspension again. Some higher end mountain bikes even have a remote leaver that mounts on the handle bars so you don't have to reach down and do that. Don't see the need for a lock out on an ebike, but that is what it is used for. Super love your content keep it up!!
Great review my friend 👍 one of the best reviews so far, very in depth and precise, thanks 👍 these Rangers have had a big impact here in the UK as a few reviewers have spoken very highly of them, a bit steep on the price, but for what you get with the spec it’s a no brainer if you want an all rounder off roader 👍 I have heard that the tyres slow the bike down on road and some have changed to tarmac tyres 🤷♂️ thanks for sharing 👏
I like their Step-thru version called the Trax, it looks like the same bike but step-thru. I am getting old and have a bad knee that's why I like the Step-thru!
Great review on the Ranger , looks like a great bike , price is a little high , but you get a good value for that bike , you do best reviews in my opinion.
I have this bike and 2 other e-bikes with with a cadence sensor and one with torque sensor. The ranger is so worth the money. I never ride the other 2 bikes now.
What i like is the compact half twist throttle that works with the trigger shifters on the right side on my bike they use a thumb throttle on the left side .Standard size throttle seems to big
How would you compare that bike with the Himiway Cobra? Both are similar, fat tires, torque sensors, full suspension, 750w motors... wondering if the 400 extra bucks for the Ranger is worth it.
Another great review Brian. I wonder why so many mfgs are limiting the speed on throttle. To me that is a real turn off unless it can be programmed to provide full power and speed.
One question, is the throttle useful in any way ? i'd love an ebike that does both well, tho id use it more as a normal ebike ( assisted) but id love to get some use of the thrttole, whats ur opinion ? or other bike reccomendations under 4k $ that also have a good thrttole ?
There was a good list of reasons I would pass. I wouldn't want to be beta tester for the front wheel attachment being #1 I mean it may be totally safe but if not I'd rather other people find that out first hand than me. The second but not only reason is if they are cheaping out by not including so much as plastic fenders then I don't want to find out where else they are trying to make a bit of extra money. This is just my opinion and everyone is totally free to disagree with me.
Rear suspension locks are common among the "real" mountain bike industry. Suspension when you need it, lockout when speed takes preference over comfort. Race bike format which trickles down to the consumer level.
Fantastic detailed review! So good I went out and bought a Ranger too and love it! May I ask what cycle helmet you use as it looks so mean and awesome? Thankyou again!
Received Ranger rack Extremely heavy duty ultra lite must be magnesium , Ranger fenders are aluminum and of sport length , too short for cross country duty . citizen do you know of any High Performance mods or larger controllers ?
You'd have change out the handle bar grips if you want bar end mirrors. What's your recommendation on other handle bar grips which will accommodate the bar end mirrors? I want to purchase Mrs.K the 20" Cyrusher Ovia which have the same grips as the Ranger. Thanks Mr.Citizen!
Fantastic review!!! I ordered one as well. Hey @CitizenCycle I have a question, I just bought the Ranger, it arrived yesterday and I took it for a ride. I really like it minus one issue. Perhaps it's my own ignorance but when I twist the throttle while pedaling, the motor quits providing power. Is that Normal, did you experience that? My other ebike does NOT behave that way. it gives me a boost to get up a hill or quick boost of speed for whatever reason, even just to get started from a standstill...
Do you think the ranger could take the same mod as your citizen 4.0. God I love that mod you did. Cures range anxiety and to be able to run the motors independently or both is just awesome. Just got back from the link and almost pulled the trigger. I was looking at the warrior but its not full suspension. Moding the ranger later may cost me more but in the end I hope to have the bike I really want.
If you had a choice between this bike or the Himiway Cobra, which one would you buy and why? ( I'm looking at both atm, and can't make up my mind) Thanks. Great review!
Can you put the mirrors on the top tubes of the crown? I have been doing a lot of research lately and your my go to channel for e-bike info. We are about the same size so your tests are really good for me. I don't own a e-bike yet. Part of me wants the road warrior and part of me really wants your citizen 4.0!
So so, a little too heavy to be nimble, For the price the EAhora Ace I think is a much more capable e-bike. That's the one I've been eyeing for a while. But never seen anybody do a solid review on it.
Rear rack and lighting should come standard. Someone who wants to lighten the bike can remove it, but I think more people than not will be using this for short errands, and bringing home groceries, etc. Need rack and storage for that. Aventon / Aventure2 has moved that way with their ebike, at a better price.
A great video. I bought the e bike. Do you also have the following problems? The headlight on/off is not shown in the display? But when dimming the display Headlight Icon is shown but no Headlight is on?
For the money there much cheaper more powerful bikes out there. With fenders included and better paint job, as your other reviews. Not a great hill climber on this bike. If it doesn’t climb hills I would never consider it. Thanks for the great review.
Excellent review. Thanks for sharing.. but question, Does anyone make a kit to convert a Cadence assist to Torque Assist? 🤔 I'd love to convert mine if possible
@@ryandoe11 they offer a twist throttle and grip set in accessories …. Why it’s not standard is absurd imo but regardless I’m still leaning to the cobra. To each our own
I couldn't get past the hydro wrap Finnish on the cobra . went for the vintage hot rod paint of the Ranger flip flop candy Apple green ,a Real head turner.
Went and looked at and test rode 2 of these and the battery connection started melting the metal leads. The batteries are poorly designed and poor quality but the rest of most of the bike is good quality. I passed on purchasing until this battery failure point is fixed. Update: ordered a Himiway instead after looking at one in a store. Just seems like better quality over all versus Cyrusher. When it comes to Chinese products it's really hit or miss with the quality and customer support.
I’ve never had any quality issues with my Ranger. I have 1300 miles on it. Just changed brake pads is all. The battery has held up great. No overheating. I live in Texas and it’s been well over a 100 daily. I ride an hour to 1.5 hours a day.
If I had to bet, I’d say it’s because they had to change their name from Wicked to Wired. Think they got into trouble because another E-bike company already had that name. I could be wrong but I chatted with one of there sales reps and it seems like they may be under new management because some of their pay opinions like Amazon pay was no longer valid despite it still showing as a valid form of payment on their website. Kinda of scared me away.
hello CitizenCycle if i have one of those geared motors 750w (1,000w peak) and i change the controller for a 52v 40amp one and a battery i upgrage it from 48v 15ah to 52v 30ah , do you think that the motor can hanndle it ?
I have this bike and now have almost 800 miles on it. I have not had any issues with the screws coming loose at all. The bike is rock solid. No issues at all.
Excellent video. I have a Juiced bike RCS. Love it. I'm really interested in this bike. Very impressed. I'm wondering about the torque sensor. No cadence , just torque sensor? My RCS has both.
Pretty sure you've ridden all the Cyrusher bikes.. would this be your favorite one? I'm thinking it would be since it's the latest and greatest of their line.
Way overpriced considering what you are not getting as standard. $1300 bikes come with integrated tail lights with brake light functionality, rear racks, fenders, etc. This bike has no possiblity for a front rack. It seems to have weak throttle acceleration. Who is spending $2800 for this?
A lot of money., no extras..., bad... for less price w 52v 20ha and extras you can get for 1500.00 dollars but without suspension... not fenders acceleration... ...I do not recommend it...
Do you realise that by having the computer set to 30-inch wheel size on what is a 26-inch wheel bike, all of your speed and distance calculations will be wrong?
