I have this exact rifle in. 22lr and you are correct, it is absolutely nice. In addition, it is amazingly accurate out to approximately 100 meters. Thank you for sharing.

I recently bought a CZ 457 Canadian .22LR with the red walnut stock embossed with the Canadian maple leaf. Really like this rifle, more accurate then my Savage .22s and as you say easy to convert to .22WMR or .17HMR whenever the kits become available again. This ones a keeper.

Totally understand what you mean Chris. My favourite air rifle was my HW 35 Export. The stock was walnut and to die for 😊.

If you could have only one rifle which would you pick out of the CZ 457 American or the Styer Zephyr 2? Shootability, accuracy, weight, fit and finish and aesthetics. Or, should I just get both lol? I love that walnut.

I have a 457 American in.22 WMR, and it's a really nice rifle! Very accurate with the lighter 30 grain bullets. I absolutely love the triggers on all my 457's! They all have the "Yo-Dave" springs (approx. $15 U.S.) and are all polished and tuned to about 8 oz. pull wt. I also love the walnut stock and the checkering pattern, too. I wish the barrel was a little shorter; 22" instead of 24.8"", but I wouldn't change anything else! Why is CZ making this beautiful (and affordable!) rifle with a lower quality beechwood stock?!

I have the same rifle in .22 LR and thinking about buying the .17 HMR barrel for it so I can swap between the two. I've thought about polishing the trigger sears and dropping in a Yo Dave spring as well to see how light and crisp I can get it compared to the factory set up an I've also contemplated cutting the barrel back to a more optimal 20"

Depending on where you live if in the US you would be much better to buy a rifle in 17 Hornet - 17 Rem fireball - 17 Remington. I own an AR 15 upper in 17 Remington which is fabulous killer of small game to coyotes, and all of these are reloadable, so you aren't dependent on commercial ammo sales. I build and sell AR 15 and AR 10 uppers in all kinds of cartridges even wildcats - 6.8 Western and AR 10 uppers in the WSM magnum cartridges.

I would get the 457 Premium for that. I picked one up at my gun store and they are absolutely stunning in person an a dream to shoulder for open sites shooting....
