This is just a little video to show people that might be considering a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow (9mm) it's basics. I know how hard it is in my area to get "hands on" contact on something you might have interest in without driving 2 hours, only to find out you might not like it, so I thought I'd put this up just to help show the "ins and outs". There are great reviews and shooting videos out there, but sometimes they forget we all don't already know the simple stuff. Hope it helps someone! :)

Cheers from Canada! Been eyeing a CZ for so long I just put an order in for a shadow last week, now to just wait 3 months for the transfer lol

Fantastic choice, you won’t be disappointed! Since you have three months to wait, start buying ammo now and stockpiling so when it finally arrives you’ve got a ton to play with! 👍🏼

Ontario or Quebec? I never waited more then 5 days for a transfer. I'm looking at this pistol now?

Just got my CZ SP-01 Shadow today, really enjoying it already. I'm a long gun enthusiast, but I've gotta say, this gun is so easy to shoot I might have to put my rifles up for a while. Great video!

The instructions state that you SHOULD not do the following (but you do at 2:30 in the video): In view of the special adjustments to the trigger mechanism, the Swivel the safety device into the LOCKED position, even if the tap is on the Safety nose is located. In these cases, however, it is expressly not recommended that the to secure the pistol, because when the cock is cocked forcibly or when the Trigger the trigger mechanism can be damaged. Is this wrong or is a safeguard on the part of the manufacturer??? sry. for my bad english
@Amaces1
@Amaces1 2 года назад
I think I’m understanding your statement?……. I do agree that when the safety is on that repeated, forceful pulling of the trigger could definitely damage the internal mechanisms over time, but the whole idea of the safety is that the internal components of the pistol should be strong enough to withstand the trigger being pulled while the safety is on without damaging anything, and keeping the shooter safe. I only pulled the trigger firmly enough to show the hammer would not engage for the video. (In an every day shooting scenario, it would be the best practice that when a person draws their pistol from their holster, they should make the safety disengagement a routine part of their steps of safe shooting. 👍🏼 This would make it a part of their muscle memory, and reduce unintentional pulling of the trigger while the safety is on. -If I misunderstood the point of your observation I do apologize.

the top thing you pull back is really hard to pull back on mine. any tips on how to loosen it or something?
@Amaces1
@Amaces1 Год назад
The slide isn’t really bad to pull back on mine. Is yours new? Maybe a little stiff if not broken in yet? If it’s not new or doesn’t improve with a little use, maybe take it to a gun smith to see if it needs to be polished to remove any possible “roughness”, or you could also ask if there is a weaker slide spring that might make it a bit easier to rack, but still function properly. I’m no pro, but those are the best options I can think of. Happy shooting! 🙂

Nice video. Could the slide release and mag release be moved to the other side?
@Amaces1
@Amaces1 2 года назад
No, they can’t be moved on this model CZ.

@@Amaces1 ah really? Im going to have to head back to Cabela's and give the sales rep an ear full. Although I've been seeing some Videos of people managing to move mag release to other side with the cz75 sp-01. This was one of the reasons I went with this model because I'm a lefty!
@schneir5
@schneir5 2 года назад
@@whereztheEvidence you can change the mag release side, but not the slide stop. You can just pull the slide back instead of hitting the slide stop. Was the SP-01 Shadow you found used? I didn't think they had made those in a few years, since they started making the Shadow 2. That's what I just bought in July, a black and blue S2, and I love that thing. I just got a red dot sight and I'm planning on sending my CZ to CZ Custom Shop to get machined. That will be awesome 😃

Does anyone CZ land know the differences between this SPO1 Shadow in the video and my regular all steel SPO1. From what I can see the Shadow in the video has different sights and a chrome finish adjustable trigger. My SPO1 came with Night Sights. Otherwise they look the same.
@Amaces1
@Amaces1 3 года назад
I know there are several different models of the CZ 75, but if yours is identical except for the sights and trigger, maybe it’s just a few changes in the gun over different years? Mine was purchased new in 2018, the fibre op sights and trigger change might be something on newer models? I found what I think I saw is your pistol on cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-sp-01-9mm-black-3-dot-tritium-sights-18-rd-mags/ To me, this looks like what you’re saying you have
@kimmorrison9169
@kimmorrison9169 3 года назад
yes Andrew the link you sent is exactly what I have. Note the trigger is black and mine came with night sites. I bought it new on 11-1-18 for $638.00. I was just curious what made a SPO1 Shadow different than my all steel, safety equipped SPO1? CZ is notorious for making unannounced changes and putting different markings on the slides. Im in the process of polishing up some internals and installing 5 new lighter springs. Hammer, Firing pin, Firing pin lock block spring, trigger return and sear springs. Also mine came with a removable plastic guide rod which I switched out to a new stainless steel guide rod.

@@kimmorrison9169 yep, I’d say they’re the identical guns other than the sights and trigger colour. In other words, they’re both awesome. 😉👍🏼

There are different springs also. There are four or five "upgrades" between from the SP-01 to the shadow for competition purposes. The shadow weighs a few more oz and few hundred $ more. Both great guns.
@kimmorrison9169
@kimmorrison9169 3 года назад
doesnt look like you have adjustable rear sights?? I thought Shadows had them.
@Amaces1
@Amaces1 3 года назад
No, the rear sights aren’t adjustable. To the best of my knowledge, most of the original cz75 versions do not have adjustable sights; the shadow 2 (or some of the higher end versions) might though.
@kimmorrison9169
@kimmorrison9169 3 года назад
@@Amaces1 that pisses me off. Why so difficult for mfgs to put fully adj rear sights on any pistol at that cost level! But I see it all the time, they rarely have adj sights.
@Amaces1
@Amaces1 3 года назад
I suppose the thought behind it could be that a lot of people are going to swap it out for whatever kind of adjustable rear sights they preferred anyway, so just put a standard fixed sight for starters? I can say my sights are pretty much perfect anyway, so at least the manufacturer did a good job with what they did use 👍🏼

Poor, sad Canadians. Why did you let your government neuter you? Take back your rights - nullification through noncompliance!
@Amaces1
@Amaces1 Год назад
We’re not neutered just yet. They’ve called for them, but none are being surrendered. I’m not sure how long non compliance will work, but that’s where we’re at.
