For hunters and shooters who want a side-by-side with exposed, fully-functional hammers but without the inherent limitations of many vintage guns, the CZ Hammer Coach and Hammer Classic are the answer! With compatibility with modern magnum ammunition, these fine firearms are a true side-lock design. Barrels are finished in our hardy yet good-looking black chrome, while the receivers get our color case finish. The Hammer Coach has short 20" barrels cylinder/cylinder constriction, while the Hammer Classic's longer 30" barrels are fitted for interchangeable chokes (Cyl., Imp. Cyl., Mod., Imp. Mod. and Full are included).

CZ doesn't make them, all their shotguns are Turkish made.

@@samuel88andrews I know, the Turks make wonderful guns, and CZ does sell, them so my CZ rifles, pistols, and shotguns are all quality.

@@samuel88andrews These shotguns are very much our own -- we have an almost 20 year history with the shotgun factory in question and have plenty of blood, sweat and tears in the development of our rather comprehensive line. This isn't just another Turkish factory cranking out shotguns -- they're one of the best and have been building our guns to our standards exclusively for us for nearly two decades.

I really like the classic and want to buy one. I really prefer the European style stock instead of the pistol grip style. Would it be possible to get one with a straight stock. Or do you know know of any company could make one for it.

I love the Classic, and seriously thinking about buying one. How would they hold up to sporting clays or skeet/trap? I'm not a competitor, just a hobbyist. I could go with the basic box-lock double, but I want the side lock and case hardening color, and I prefer a side-by-side to an over-under.

@@QuackSuperStar I did buy the CZ Hammer Classic, and it's holding up well. It hasn't loosened up at all since I bought it, the break action is fairly stiff and the gun doesn't just fall open when you unlock it, you do have to break it. I have not had a single misfire; there have been several days at our club where I've shot a couple of rounds of sporting clays (40-46 shells, depending on the trap arrangements), then gone either to the skeet range or 5 stand range and shot two or three rounds there. So, 200 rounds in a day, no misfires, still super tight lockup.

All our shotguns have some cast in them. These are all cast for right handed shooters. None of our shotguns have a true neutral cast.

Are the barrels interchangeable to one another? Can you buy just a set of barrels if you already have the coach or the classic? It would be great marketing to have the ability to sell the best of both worlds to a customer. I sent CZ a email tonight. Looking forward to a reply.

What are the 5 chokes that come with the Hammer Classic?

They are Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified and Full, with notches cut in the end of the choke to denote their constriction -- five notches is Cylinder and one notch is Full. Thanks!

U will need to buy an extra set if u want to have identical chokes in each barrel it only comes with one of each

@@czusafirearms I don't understand chokes very well. I own this coach gun. I have it in a nice case in two blue sleeves but nothing else besides paperwork. Can you explain chokes and tell me what I have? There are no other parts besides stock assembly, fore stock and barrel assembly. Thank you.

Own the coach hammer does not touch the firing pin still cool tho

Because it has a rebounding hammer, the hammer will not touch the fitting pin. It's a safety feature.

I recently acquired the Hammer Coach. Beautifully made. However. I’d like to ask if it is normal for the bluing on the barrel to continuing to rub off even after cleaning? I noticed that my hand would get blackens after handling it each time. Seems like the bluing is being rubbed off even by simply handling it.

Hard to believe that the black chrome (not blueing) would rub off on your hand. Oil and dirt on the other hand.....
