Loved my SP01 tac decided to get a "carry" model CZ and went with the PCR over the P01 when both were in the shop, i agree that the trigger felt just a bit smoother for some reason.
Most go for striker fired handguns. Yes, the trigger pull is consistent but, I feel there are many out there that just do not want to attempt to master a double action on the first pull like there is with these CZ pistols.
I noticed you did not comment on the sights. I think when I get mine the New TrueGlows will just about make it perfect as perfect can be. Yep, I said it CZ perfection.
Other things different between the two firearms are the slide stop lever and the stock rear sights which we cannot see since you already changed it out. The P-01 has a regular style CZ 75 rear sight and the slide stop has a staircase pattern to it. While the PCR has a snag-free rear sight and a serrated slide stop.
I think between the 2, I would go with the PCR. I want to compare it to the P07 and see which I like best. Just need to find someplace nearby that has them in stock.
I like the railed ones little better. Adds a little weight to the front to help with the muzzle flip. Not that there's big muzzle flip to begin with. :). Nice guns.
Great video. Unfortunately I am still undecided. Lol...I plan to get one of the two in the next month or so...I am leaning towards the PCR. I don't need a rail. Thanks
Were it not for the goofy rear sight cut for the PCR I would favor it over the P01. I need to find a P01 omega to lighten the load on my belt from my 75C
+TheHumbleMarksman good luck finding one I ghink the pcr is better than the useless rear that came with the p01 not to mention I switch all factory sights too something I prefer more
Excellent comparison...I have a PCR and it is a sweet shooter! Don't want to split hairs, but you did fail to mention the lovely loaded chamber indicator in the PCR. ;-) Still trying to get my hands on P-01 Omega, that will be my next CZ!
Well my P01 got away from me and i just purchased another one. Should be in my hands Thursday or Friday, i shot THE pistol quite well and not sure why i sold it in the first place? But I'm keeping this one , i had to pay all the money to get one (Gunbroker).......I'll be going with the zombie green and black grips like yours......can't wait to get it.......TTYL
Both my PCR and P01 have the CGW PRO kit. I purchased my PCR from CGW but I did the P01 myself. For some reason I shoot better with the P01 and that's what I carry. And, I deglocked my son in favor of the PCR. Both of the CZ's have the CGW 10X bushing and I installed a P01 slide release on the PCR. Check out my first shots video on RU-vid.
More like they're dropping a lot of their 40 line. I think the P-07/09, the P-10c, the Tactical Sport and the 75 are the only 40's left in their line up. And I heard the 75 will stop being offered in 40 after this year.
It's what I'm on the hunt for. I had planned to get one as a new carry gun. But I opted for the Canik C100 in 40 instead. With plans to still pick up the P-06 with my refund. Imagine my surprise when I saw they discontinued it in December of last year.
Ppq is great but i got rid of my sc because of that over sized slide release. The way i gripped the gun would cause and accidental actuation of that slide release. Slide releases are not even necessary in most situations. I never use mine on my glock.
One thing interesting about mine is I have the CZp01, which obviously has the dust cover and rail and that's what the paperwork indicates, but my pistol came with the the PCR stamped slide.
They are the same pistol. The P-01 is US market version of the CZ75 Compact with a rail hence the marking. Outside the US they are sold as just a CZ 75 Compact with rails. Sometimes CZ-USA will get firearms marked for different market to fill in the demand here in the US.
That's what I'd figured, I'd done enough digging to find out it was normal when I'd first got the pistol, just didn't know the reasoning behind it. Thanks for the info!
The P01 and the CZ 75 compact are not just marked differently and with/without a rail. The CZ 75 compact has a steel frame vs. the aluminum alloy frame on the P01, and the CZ 75 compact has a thumb safety vs. the decocker on the P01.
I would expect the Shadow 2 to be better than the P-01 and even the SP-01 when it comes to the handling and trigger, The Shadow 2 is geared more towards competition as it was designed with inputs from competition shooters.
1776 or Bust Guns, Gear and all things related. I love them. They were spendy. The sight picture almost looks better in the dark. They were 150. But a great improvement over the smal hard to see sights
I have the SP-01 variety and it's a sweet shooter. Heck of a value too considering it's price compared to similar classed firearms. I'm considering the purchase of a PCR to replace my Glock 30SF as a carry gun. In CA (yes we can have ccw permits in CA) I can only have 3 sidearms on my permit (the least of the bullshit CA restrictions). So, I have a question for those who actually carry the PCR or P-01. How comfortable is it to carry? I'm wondering if the beavertail digs into your side at all. It's not an issue with the SP-01 because it'd be in an non-concealed OWB holster. But, for the PCR or P-01, would it matter? Thanks for any replies.
Timothy Smith I've carried the p01 for a couple of years the pcr is identical in shape I cant my holster forward and have never had an issue with either
What finish is on those two guns? Did you polish them or is that factory? If you did polish them what did you use? I live in NorCal and am trying to decide between these same two guns. Cannot decide, and can't buy both. Ugh! decisions! This like trying to decide Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. Les Paul or Strat, Camaro or Mustang.
My pcr has severe issues with sig v-crown. The round goes nose up and slide closes on the casing when attempting to feed. Did you find that any overall length works better than another?
Will the PCR fit in a P01 holster? I ask because I'm thinking about getting a CZ75 Compact but don't wanna another holster. I have a P01 and Trexarms sidecar I'd like to run them both out of
I notice that your PCR has a black trigger. I have the PCR with the silver serrated trigger. I have other CZ with the smooth trigger. I not sure that I like the serrated trigger. It has it pro and cons. Is the trigger on you PCR still serrated?
I know what you mean. The serrated trigger is great when you have gloved hands while shooting. it give a more positive purchase on the trigger. But with bare hands it not ideal especially with prolonged and continuous shooting sessions at the range. Thanks...
Please don't shoot me thru the internet....LOL...The only CZ I own is the PCR and I love it...Then again I was a teen in the mid 80's so I am a metal guy with SA/DA....Good info on em both....Good stuff...
1776 or Bust Guns, Gear and all things related. yeah I want to be able to carry without so much of the weight...so I'm leaning towards the CZ P07 right now.
Gerald Weldin the p07 is 27.7 oz the p01 is 28.1 and the pcr is 27.5 so not much of a difference at all both the pcr and p01 are alloy frames so it does take down the weight I have never had an issue carrying any of them...I hope this helps
Nice review, thanks! I just picked up one of those CZ 75 P01 high polish stainless steel that recently came in, not been to the range with it, actually am not sure I want to do that, might just leave it "as is" for now! But I am looking for a PCR for my gf, think it would be great for her. She currently has a Sig M11 A1, really likes it, shoots it well. BUT... she is from Czech Republic, she needs to have a CZ, and I'm thinking she really needs a PCR! Does anyone here have experience with these two guns, can anyone here compare them? Thanks!
Important edit here, lol! I am not Libuse Leman, I am her bf, and happened to be on her YT channel when I posted this, not realizing it would show up as HER! She is not into having gf's, we are a "committed couple" for 15 years or so, k? Tried to edit that post but there was no edit link in the dropdown menu, so did this instead. Btw, Jan 2020, I have a PCR on the way now, whoopee!!
David L i bought the regular pcr over the omega po1. Its hard to find a holster for the omegas. Only noce thing about the omega is the stock sights are considerably nicer out of the box then the stamdard sights on the metal czs
+Eric F that's a negative this is my 2nd p01 so I have plenty of time on range with the p01 my first I owned 5 yrs ago before they became cool. Are these my most shot pistols nope but I don't own safe queens.
Yes, of course, will do. That "red" is so classy - goes nice with the superb lines of the P-01. I had a PCR , shot the snot out of it, but later sold it - ouch, lesson learned. Thanks again for the videos :)
Nope. PCR is a carry gun, P-01 open carry/duty gun. The slide are not the same, both inside and outside, just look at the finishing. PCR is a pro tool, P-01 is a more popular seller.
Phantom is just too fat for me. I like how thin my SP-01 is. It's heavy, it's completely impractical, and that's what I like about it, it's just a shooter that's not pretending to be anything else.
