This mag release is awesome. Works so much better than stock.

Takes a slight knack to it, i tried first on the stock spring and promptly bent it. I saw this and took more time and got it to work with the spring supplied by using the punch.

It's not. Just tried doing it. First of... the pin is harder than a MF to get out. I did everything the same EXACT way as in the video and also I put a cloth in between reciever a vice and yet somehow the vice still fucked my receiver up. Once I managed to get the pin out and tried placing new spring and release in and tried lining it all up. Got the pin back in half way and I checked to see if it would work like he did on video. Got a mag stuck it in, it the mag was jammed in and I couldn't get it out. Had to take punch and hammer the pin out again and in doing so crimped the spring. Lmfao. I dont see how it's just falling right into place for this guy. This is have been nothing but a nightmare for me and by far the hardest thing I have installed on a gun.

@@christopherwilliams5808 And that is why I always leave the pain in the a** parts stock lol! The minor inconvenience is not worth the money and headache it will take to replace it lol! The stock mag release on my Scorpion hasn't failed me yet so stock it will remain lol!

Great video … thank you … hopefully i can own a CZ Scorpion soon - (when I move the Ef out of Liberal California) Lol. Do they make steel or aluminum magazines for this firearm ?? Not a huge fan of plastic magazines …

All your install vids are easy to understand. I’m sure I would have messed up the trigger spring replacement without the step by step. One niggle though. Do not wear a dark shirt. The black gun parts blend in making it hard to see the details on what you are doing.
@hb_industries
@hb_industries 4 года назад
That is really good feedback, thank you for pointing this out. All of our current shop shirts are black (stay looking cleaner longer :-) but to your point we are going to get some others made in light grey, maybe an FDE shade too, just for videos and applications like this. Great idea!

Looks like a simple install. How does this compare with the new Magpul mag release? Got a promo code to try one out?
@hb_industries
@hb_industries 5 лет назад
Unfortunately no promo codes, however we do stand behind all of our products and so far people are comparing our Evo Pro-Stock mag release very favorably over Magpuls new MOE mag release.

Just as an FYI, I've just received my HBI duckbill mag release and hoping I don't experience operational issues. The problem is the 5/32 roll pin punch does not freely slide through both holes in the new release (neither does the roll pin which I'd think should not fit so tightly as to bind the release in its operation). Each hole is appropriately sized for the punch (not the roll pin, however) but as a pair are not aligned with each other. I don't want to force the install and either break something or have the assembly bind and not perform the task properly. Is this a situation you have seen before? Will a properly manufactured replacement release be required? Can a small round file mitigate this condition or might this fix create other issues? Thanks for whatever input can be supplied.
@hb_industries
@hb_industries Год назад
We do not recommend filing anything. By design, the roll pin should "press fit" into our magazine release, and "slip fit" into the lower receiver. This way the pin is help captive by the magazine release, and rotates in the lower receiver as the mag release is operated. If that makes sense?
@dreel1981
@dreel1981 Год назад
What roll pin punch set did you use? I'm having trouble finding a set with the dimple and the cheap crap on Amazon is not worth my patience. Love yalls videos on the scorpion. I've watched jus about all of them up to this point.
@hb_industries
@hb_industries Год назад
Our favorite punches are made by Starrett, but we recommend Tekton punches too. If you are on a budget try searching for Tekton part number 66564, it should be a set of punches both flat and roll pin style.

I installed it but didn’t use the spring you gave me. I used the factory spring. Seems to work fine. Any concerns?
@hb_industries
@hb_industries 4 года назад
Either spring will work (our supplied spring is slightly higher rate/force to help give the same "feel" with longer lever/paddle). The primary reason we include a second spring is because they are so easy to bend/damage/loose... don't ask how we know :-)
@tylershields9658
@tylershields9658 Год назад
So my first spring bent… on my second attempt I got it installed however the release seems to have “two stages” to the release. The mag still goes in and drops out perfectly fine. However, I assume I have also bent that spring because yours looks a lot smoother than mine( I didn’t see this video until after I installed). Do you think it will be okay? If not, where do you recommend getting a replacement spring if you do think that’s something I need? Thanks

Hey Tyler, we would be happy to send you (or any of our customers) replacement springs. Please just send us a quick email with your shipping info to sales@hbindustries.net and we will get you sorted out.

I just got mine today from you and installed it just the way you showed it in this video. Everything was checked with a loaded mag while the lower receiver was off. Function check passed with flying flags. Once put back together, I now have to ram the loaded magazine in order for it to catch and it doesn't drop freely when I release the mag. I'm not sure why this would be. Any ideas?
@ATOMSKI_MRAV

Fyi the spring is not bent. I double checked this.
@hb_industries

@@ATOMSKI_MRAV very strange; what magazines are you using? And you said the magazines drop free when the lower is not installed in the upper? If you haven't already, please call/email us and we can send you you several more springs and roll pins; it might be worth removing our mag release and re-installing the factory magazine release to see if you can duplicate the issue? We would also be happy to send you a replacement magazine release to try at the same time. Over the past 3-5 years that we have been making magazine releases I am not sure that this specific situation has ever come up before? Typically if the lower runs out of the upper, it also runs the same in the upper...

@@hb_industries I'm using an OEM 30rd mag. I have ordered a set of roll pins and a spring just in case so I'll try that for sure. I'll remove it and reinstall it with a new spring. The mag drops "kinda" freely even now but only when it's loaded. I'd say the weight is what's letting it fall freely but doesn't come out when unloaded. It's worth to mention that I also changed the pin that holds the lower and upper together with the HB industries one. I love how there's no more play there.

@@hb_industries I just finished removing it and reinstalling it with a different spring and roll pin. Same issue unfortunately. I also tried it with different mags (ETS, Pmag and another one i can't remember the name of). All were good when not fully loaded or empty but if fully loaded I still needed to slam them in order for them to catch. I'll give you guys a call sometime tomorrow.

Should show how the spring should look when properly seated when it’s reinstalled now I have bent spring . Not a huge problem since replacement springs are easy to get just bummed out I’ll probably have to wait a week because I bent a little spring

I know this is 2 years old but, in the next design please make the mag release a bit more ergonomic. compared to the factory release it honestly hurts to use the finger release at the trigger guard.
@Lukeredacted
@Lukeredacted 2 года назад
i use my support hand thumb to hit the duckbill when reloading, sort of HK MP5 style. It’s been super smooth for me. You can also hit the duckbill with your trigger hand middle finger, which seems to work well to. I love the aluminum duckbill mag release, it makes the gun feel so much sturdier.
