A film from the historical reenactment of Czosnów 1939. A short film report from the event.
The reconstruction of "Czosnów 1939" carried out as part of the operation "War Paths in the Kampinos Forest" is a historical and educational event. It presented the events of September 1939 that took place in the Czosnów Commune.
Before the outbreak of World War II, the present area of the Czosnów Commune was located between three important, strategic points of the Second Polish Republic: the Modlin Fortress - Warsaw - the Central Military Ammunition Storehouse in Palmiry. Due to the fact that maintaining communication in this section became a priority, heavy and often bloody fights took place here. Localities such as Kazuń or Cybulice were not captured by the enemy during the fights in 1939 - the Polish Defenders surrendered only with the surrender of the Modlin Fortress (September 29, 1939).
During the German occupation, an underground movement was organized in the present territory of the Czosnów Commune. Many inhabitants belonged to the Home Army of the Kampinos Group and actively resisted - the underground press and weapons were distributed, as well as took part in local battles or fought in the Warsaw Uprising.
