This film is a reflection on the deep tears that can result from a lack of communication about events from the past and how these unspoken facts can affect the present to the point of eating away at a family life from within. Identity is the key subject of this story: What identity for a young man who is about to become a father but has suffered the absence of his own? Does identity come through filiation? Through the physical? Are we prisoners when we experience a violent family pattern or is it possible to take the counterpoint of fatherhood by avoiding perpetuating this violence? What are the consequences of young people's recklessness with regard to parental responsibilities? All these questions are addressed in the film. The staging reveals the raw banality (by framing the characters and putting them at a distance from the viewer), the gap, the complete dephasing of these two beings who are moving further and further apart, cruelly" -Antoine Zimmermann, director of Déphasés.
