Daddario is thicker more body to its sound a little darker, but there is a edge to the V16/sizzle brighter that I really like with your playing .

I think the Vandoren T6 has a more complex sound but in a beautiful vvay... Based in this video I prefered the Vandoren... But both sounded amazing and very beautiful

Horses for courses ,as is said in Shropshire, and $240 is double the T6 price and used are $65.But you can make a drain pipe sound magnificant .

I like tha D'Addario more, even if the difference when you play them is not so big. I like your sound so much..!! Maybe that's why they both sound good

I have a Daddario DM7 on Tenor (after playing a Link for 35 years! Though I have the Vandoren for the Alto (after playing a Wolfe Tayne for 35 years- you sound great on both man!

This is interesting. When I tried the same comparison a few years ago I remember the D'addario to be much brighter than the V16.

@@Sirvalorsax Sorry I never replied to your question. I was using the regular piece. I just got another Jazz Select piece to try again. I was playing a V16 T6 but find the palm keys to be somewhat piercing and a bit shrill. The jazz select, to my surprise, is not as bright as the V16. So I'm gonna work with it for a while. Do you remember what reed you were using on this comparison? I'm using Boston Sax Shop reeds on mine. Great reeds.

To my taste T6 sounds better. Would be interesting to compare spectrum in similar conditions (reed, pressure~, notes).

The T6 Van. sounds more suitable for rock funk etc. Imo.

I also bought the sandstone marble version of the d'addario and I went and did a comparison to the regular black one and I will say that the material does feel a bit different and for me I noticed a slight increase in response with the sandstone marble edition. They both sound the same though

D'addario all day long.... Both sound great but....... The darker sound and ability to play this way easily is My subjective preference, seemingly mirrored in you're choice too. BTW I play one too🎷👍

Another great vid Adriene but Unfortunately I have to disagree with you this time and go with the Vandoren. I own a T6 and I’ve tried out the D7M 8M and 9M (only got to try the 7M with both finishes) Although I love both of these pieces, I like the bright punch of the V16 (especially with your style). For the time being though the V16 is resting in my drawer and I’m playing a Jody Jazz HR* 8. Really excited to try out the new Vandoren V16 too. Keep those vids coming brother D

Love how you play!!! I have a vandoren v16 t6 like you, do you think that the Daddario select jazz is better or more or less the same?? Because Im planning to buy the Daddario but I dont know if Im going to feel a lot of difference with the vandoren v16, thanks in advance!! 🙏🏻

I think the Vandoren is closer to what you expect from a hard rubber mouthpiece but the Marble is very unique and soft rod rubber

Great review. You sound great on both I might need to try out the dadarrio piece sometime 💵 🔥 . I really love my T7 ebonite mouthpiece however now that I recently switched to Legere’s signature reeds!! I use strength #3

Do you still have your allora soprano sax? And if so, do you still like it after having it for awhile now? I've been looking at a intro tenor sax and allora is a brand I saw at my store. The student is Chinese the higher end I'm not sure. Wanted your opinion after awhile. Saw your bari review on it too a week ago.

Yes, I still have it and I still like it. I'm looking into getting the curved Allora but I want to wait to see if they will make a professional version.

I have the D’Addario (plain); great mpc that is ‘free-blowing”. Similar to the Francois Louis Spectruoso (285) or a Lamberson SB7.

@@ytinf1090 The D’Addario is slightly brighter. Both have narrower beaks than my SYOS (main) mpc. Over time I find the SYOS a bit too bright for big band, so I use the FL there.

the aarron drake resin ligature completely transforms the d,addario compared to using a metal ligature

Is D`addario D7M equivalent to the opening of the V16 T6? Or is there a difference in the opening of these two tested mouthpieces?

It is the polished silver version of the Cannonball VR. I use Vandoren Redbox 2.5 for this. Thanks for watching

They are both medium chamber pieces. The T6 is now available with a large chamber.

I really like the alto versions. If I had to do it again, I would get a smaller facing than the 6 for my alto. I haven't tried them on my tenor.....yet

I don’t know many people who play Meyer mouthpieces on Tenor but certainly a great mouthpiece for Alto. I have both the D’Addario D7M Select Jazz & the Vandoren V16 T7 played here and prefer the D’Addario, it has a slightly softer sound whereas the Vandoren is a bit more of an edgy sound. Both are great mouthpieces though IMO.

Did you end you p buying the yamaha 5c. Did you like it? Does it work for jazz gigs? Meaning is it loud enough?

I'm still debating on the 4c or the 5c. I would use them for a long gig because they are easy to play. As far as volume, that is a very subjective thing. I would try to get a nice EQ from the sound person and then play on which ever mouthpiece I felt was best for the gig. They are generally not considered powerhouse mouthpieces. On soprano, I found this mouthpiece cuts through quite nicely.

@@Sirvalorsax nice nice.. I started on tenor about a week ago. Played alto for a very long time but after listening to tenor players im making the switch. I got a Chinese glory tenor, its good but came with a abs mouthpiece and glory reeds, they play good enough to to wait and see what I need to do. I think I might just get the 5c on amazon and if I dont like it I'll just return it or keep it. I dont want to spend 150 for a rubber one. I tried the v16 from a friend and i thought it was pretty nice but I dont know if the yamaha 5c and v16 were to be somehow of equal volume.

@@Sirvalorsax Shit. That's what I usually use. I'm struggling to settle on a goto mouthpiece for tenor. Every mouthpiece I have will produce what I'm looking for, just not every time I play them. It's a little irritating.
