My sister-in-law lives just north of Victoria, and the excitement about the temple is palpable! I cried happy tears when I heard it announced. The ferry ride to Vancouver is so expensive that frequent temple trips are not financially accessible to many families, not to mention the amount of time involved. I am so thrilled for the Saints in this area!
The temple helps me come home to Christ. The temple blesses Me: I hear in my mind and heart him speaking to me. I feel to love all of God’s children as he loves us all. The answer to the despair in the world. I learn more patience love and kindness in His teachings. The temple strengthens and comforts me in this troubled world. We are here to walk each other home. The temple is a place to feel Christs love.
As a young mother I looked to D&C 109:8 "Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing, and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God;" as the type of home I desired for my children. To me, this one sentence describes a home wherein we can recognize heaven. Now my children are parents and they strive to create homes wherein the Lord can bless their families. We were so blessed as we tried to establish a home wherein the Spirit can reside.
Right from the get go...Doctrine and Covenants 109:1 Thanks be to thy name, O Lord God of Israel, who keepest covenant and showest mercy unto thy servants who walk uprightly before thee, with all their hearts. Wow! We learn that we have a Heavenly Father that is willing to covenant with us, that keeps His covenants, and that He is merciful! ❤
I'm so interested I. Your comments about Seattle. I was born and raised there. It breaks my heart to see the downgrading of "my city". I now live in Utah. Sadly, there are dark places in SLC as well. Allie is right, those sad people don't know who they are. The Church of Jesus Christ is alive and well in the Seattle. They are working hard to teach people who they are, precious children of God.
