Such great training done right there! If you are watching this, own a horse, please apply this horsemanship principle! I’ve done a lot of clinics with a great horseman here in Australia 🇦🇺 but how Dennis does not allow the horse to race off and take over by blocking with the flag till he settles is so good, gets them thinking to you. My horse licked and chewed so much when I did this, he wasn’t expecting it. It has also helped me with trailer loading, he used to cut me off and duck to my left To get out of it ( see Dennis’ video with a little colt loading, he also tried to cut to the left too, great learning video) my horse doesn’t do that now because I’ve blocked him just like this video on the ground when he takes over and isn’t listening.
This man's a hand, thank you Dennis! This is the first video of yours I've watched and I subscribed to your channel about halfway through. Please keepeep this kind of content coming.
So true... if a horse isn't paying attention to you for any reason, including being anxious to get back to other horses, they are dangerous. To them, its a matter of survival and you can't win against a horse who thinks survival is at stake. There are many ways to get a horse's attention back to you, then to get them to see you as a safe leader, but however you do it its really the most important step in horsemanship
