I like the idea of pairing up. I normally DM for a party of 7-8 and now 2 more making 10. We've agreed to break it into two parties. The buddy system seems like a good way to incentivize coordination
Bless your heart. That's quite the undertaking! It definitely helped keep attention and make my job a bit easier. I'm still looking into ways to make it even more streamlined (visual displays, time limits, etc.) -Sean
I'm running a class campaign and there is 15 players... This is going to be extremely helpful thank you so very much (Edit) I for whatever reason always end up with more then 8 players and this is super helpful thank you
Hey, TheShadowExperts! Wow, 15! You're a braver soul than I. I'm glad this helped and hopefully it'll keep your students a little more organized! -Sean
I dont know if its video worthy, but I have different crit rules and rules for aiding skill checks. Everyone feels bad when they crit, and then roll less than they could have rolled on a regular hit. In my game, you roll damage as normal and then add max damage of each die rolled. Rogue crits on sneak attack, rolls 1d8+3 for rapier, 2d6 for sneak attack, then adds 8+6+6=20 damage to the total This makes certain that your crit will always be at least one damage higher than your normal maximum. I've found that this does not throw off the game much since important monsters can always take a punch, but it gives the players the excitement of huge numbers in one swing. Numbers that are technically still possible with the base crit rules. I basically took the average, and cut out all the low possibilities! For skill checks, I just don't let players help others in skill checks if they aren't proficient in the skill. Just like trying to help someone with thieves tools. I try to make people feel special for having skill training because unlike other editions, you cant just pick up a new one when you level. They are instead thought out choices at character creation, and I like to reward those choices!
Whether it can be a whole video or not those are some pretty great home brew rules! Nothing sucks more than criting then rolling 1s. And I've put the same rule in my home brew campaign for skill checks, we're both on the same wavelength. - Tony
I run a school group of 15. I would say 25 is far too many for 1 group. Half the group, run Separate games on separate days. Get a Co-DM from one of the older more experienced players from each group to support you on their group's off night.
