I cannot express how encouraging comments like these are, especially in the middle of a 60 hour production!! Thank you so much for such nice words and taking the time to share them. /bow
I really like the lore involved with the formation of the Planes of Existence and the Blood War. I'm glad there's more channels covering it nowadays. You do a fantastic job. Your efforts at putting this together is amazing.
I'm fixing to be playing my 1st campaign as a player im always the GM. We are playing Out Of The Abyss.... Demon Lord videos would be awesome especially with more rare or old demon Lords that's not talked about much.
What a story line in a campaign that demons and devils are banning togther to gather more souls. UMMM i have ideas. Could you do a vide on the Raven Queen?
Raven Queen is DEFINITELY on my list and pretty high up in fact. So perhaps next month optimistically. I can't promise a May delivery, but I can promise I am profiling her!
Dialectical struggle is common in both mythology and history. Perhaps the questions you've asked are interesting points to explore in your own campaign? What happens when the war shifts or is won? What outside entities would have an interest in such events?
Great justification as to why good tolerates their existence and accumulation of power, AND a way to let the forces of celestial etc keep their hands tidy and good
@@JMOlsen_ didn't mean to suggest that was the case. I said it can serve as justification as to why good tolerates the continued accumulation of power by evil, particularly via the corruption of souls, when one would expect a bit more direct intervention against evil, by the very nature of axiomatic goodness. Didn't suggest they could effectively stop evil, or overpower it, simply that beings of axiomatic good should probably have strong justification for not actively combatting evil and corruption (I wouldn't count 'cause we're not numerically strong enough' among strong justifications, personally)
@@716monk Axiomatic equals lawful. Goodness doesn't have to be lawful. There are laws to their world, much like in our world. Limiting what supernatural beings can and cannot do. Another thing is that it is easier to become evil than to become good. Devils fighting demons don't risk their alignments and thereby abilities. Celestials can easily fall and become other types of creatures. More than one example of that...
That's okay, Drow will always rhyme with Bow and it will always be "Dwer-gar" where I'm concerned... and don't get me started on the as-MOE-dee-us vs. as-moe-DAY-us battle. Or for that matter that daemon is actually pronounced "demon".
Personally I tend to fall into the Serpents of Law origin for Asmodeus because there's an aspect that kind of shows this. Glasya, Asmodeus' daughter, is far more powerful than she, or anyone else besides Asmodeus/Ahriman, realize. Besides Asmodeus, she is the only other archdevil that will regenerate after being killed and will return to life. Neither she nor Asmodeus can be killed, even if killed in the Hells (any other archdevil killed in the Hells is permanently destroyed, but not Asmodeus nor Glasya). This means that there's more to Glasya and her power than anyone, besides Asmodeus, realizes.
I was just playing BG3 yesterday and just met Karlach and she mentioned being a soldier in the Blood War. I've been wondering what that was so this video came at such serendipitous time. 👍
Meh…there’s nothing in the lower planes, any of them, that should keep the Blood War from spilling over from the Devils’ perspective. Harsh terrain?…what? They are immune, otherwise they wouldn’t survive the Hells. Problem I have with D&D is the same I had with Marvel comics growing up: they swear up and down this is the baddest bad, and then some new other comes along and supersedes it. “But wait…these utterly useless creatures pre-date Asmodeus, the gods, and all of creation!!!!!” 🐂💩
Huzzah! Always a good day when @RichesAndLiches adds a video. Thanx! ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ (Psst...) ※※※ (...consider including a bit about things in the Campaign Setting of Golarion...) (...even just a compare & contrast discussion can benefit any TTRPG table...) (...so much lore exists that is ripe for plucking from one Fantasy Roleplaying system and planting in another....) ※※※
I hope you could do a video about the Yugoloth/daemon and Demodand/gehreleths two of the most neutral evil forces, and what they play in the blood war is between the demons and Devils? How the operate and function? The two referees.
Not me making a world and abt 3 months into the random realm existing making it a product of a blood war conclusion. The demons and fiends ally to overtake the celestials, who have had scales tipped towards good for a very long time.
Please make a video about the Tanar'ri demons and the abyss and how devils invade abyss and how they all come to the first layer of the abyss called Pazunia where Pazuzu rules?
Excellent coverage. I was surprised that you didn't cover Night Hag profiteering though. They're certainly one of the major forces in The Blood War, even if mostly an economic one.
You should check out my story and lore videos (one each) on the Stitched Devil... where a Night Hag most certainly makes her way into the Hells to barter with a Kochrachon :)
Having only really had experience with 5E, i was confused as fuck when the video started out talking about Baatezu and Tanar'ri. Took me a hot google and reddit trip to understand which was which.
I tried to avoid confusion by making sure the early references always included "Baatezu Devils of the Nine Hells" and "Tanar'ri Demons of the Abyss". Apologies it was not clearer, I know that is an old planescape reference that some do not understand.
Dang it! I look at these videos nearly 100 times before they go up, but after 60 hours of editing, it just all becomes a blur. Super lazy mistake... Thanks for letting me know. I would fix but its FAR more involved than it should be. I have it noted for any future remaster.
I'm actually super interested in a nice long video or two regarding the war between the wind dukes and the queen of chaos. I think it's because I never really found too much lore regarding it, and it seems so titanic, that it draws my imagination so much. I've always wanted to see Miska stated. The rod of seven parts was probably the most interesting 2nd ed artifact imo besides the sword of kas and the silencer of bodach.
I vote for all the options! Love the devils, my favorite of the evil races. But the demons are extremely fascinating too! At the very least the major demon lords! Also, really looking forward to the rest of the Archduke videos!
What about how the soul trade as to both the celestial and the infernal influences the blood war, souls being fuel for the gods and the coin of the realm as to both devils and demons?
I am sorry you don't like the art, but that is part of the stories and lore I share. I understand if that does not align with your expectations. I appreciate your comments.
In 3.5 asmodius. Was an angel created to punish evil. And slowly got worse and worse to the point the gods didn't like his methods made a deal and changed asmodius into the first devil.
I am going to throw out a guess that one of those words is Tanar'ri? If so, I acknowledge that its not how most pronounce it, but saying it any other way sounds very weird, IMO. What other pronounciations drive you crazy? :) Thanks for the comment and taking the time to watch and give feedback. :)
Don't get hung up on it brother! Great vid, I'm still watching your others! It's flavor, I'm honestly thinking now of making npcs say these pronunciations to liven up the world.
Definitely my favorite lore subject. Such a treasure trove of endless content. Have used the blood war in campaigns before from players being unwitting pawns to active participants. Fantastic RP opportunities. Go team Baatezu!
Thank you for the effort. Your pronunciation of the Bae-Aht-Zu , the Ta-Nar-ee , as well as Asmode-ee-us , are wrong. Yet your pronunciation of Baator is correct and is the root word. You also would have done yourself a MASSIVE service by going back to the 2nd edition Planescape setting for lore, origins, and an even better understanding of the motives and influence of each of the factions. Well produced video though.
While I appreciate your feedback, your assumptions that my pronunciations are off or that I do not have a firm grasp of the blood war is very inaccurate. I played planescape quite extensively and well understand the lore better than most. While you may certainly choose to pronounce these words differently, and perhaps you prefer hearing them pronounced as you are used to, my pronunciations are accurate (as are the alternatives). Asmodeus (pronounced: /æzmoʊˈdeɪʌs/ æz-mo-DAY-us or: /æzˈmoʊdiʌs/ æz-MO-dee-us) Baatezu (pronounced: /beɪˈɑːtɛzuː/ bay-AT-eh-zoo or: /ˈbɑːtɛzʌ/ BAH-teh-zu) Tanar'ri (pronounced: /tɑːˈnɑːrri/ tah-NAHR-ree or: /tɛˈnɑːri/ teh-NAH-ree or: /təˈnɑːri/ tuh-NAHR-ee) We will just have to agree to disagree. Thanks for your time.
Too bad there's printed explanations of the artwork without a break in narration. Either pause narrative during printed explanations or just narrate everything, no onscreen print
Fantastic Video as usual. I always have to cringe when you insert any 5th Edition refuse in your videos. First Edition H series modules were pure D&D magic.
This is the first time I have ever been told I am not "human" enough. :( Although after listening, I am not sure how anyone could mistake my narration for an AI voice. In any event... no the words and voice are all mine and I spent about 22 of the 64 hour production time just on the writing alone so I have to confess your comment does sting a little. Nevertheless, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
@@RichesandLichesI think your voice is perfect for this format. The effort that you put in shows in the polish of both your visual and auditory presentation. The writing and reading are great. Your efforts are appreciated.
