Welcome to my DIY Aqua Lounge!!! I hope to share ideas and thoughts with building tanks, water systems, and constructing equipment to make the fish keeping hobby as well as the DIY hobby enjoyable and educational for everyone!!!!
DIY plywood aquarium on a whole different level. Hands down the best build, plumbing, and video I've seen on RU-vid by far. I've never seen anything like this. Great video my guy! Hats off to you sir! 👏🏽 I've been studying for a while now on the best way to build a massive PWA (plywood aquarium) and I'm pretty much ready but your accomplishment just sent me back to the drawing board.
Thank you for the post. Appreciate the kind words. I posted this since I learned from diy videos myself. I'm happy to help with questions. I will also have more content coming about the specifics of the tank and what I like and what I would improve on as well. Thanks again.
This is an amazing video. Your set up is great. Thanks for sharing. I have been In fish for 30+ years and I have never seen a better set up. In my opinion.
I think the 30 + years is what makes me feel good about my build coming from your opinion. With 30 years, you would be a great one to sit with and learn a lot from your experiences with the hobby!!
@@D.I.Y.Aqualounge thanks. I have seen a lot of fish rooms. Your set up is one of the most advanced. I wish my fish room was that organized I have seen. My hat is off to you. Congrats.
@@D.I.Y.Aqualounge sorry for the late reply, I think water quality is so tough for many of us. Maybe think about doing a guide on your water room to Show how you get the best quality. Especially here in Florida, it’s tough getting the balance correct.
Beautiful setup in your basement love the aquariums love the water room as well. Gave me some great ideas job well done⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🫶🫶💥💥🔥🔥👊👊👊🤟🤟🤟
Thank you. Appreciate the kind words!! I'm going to do some videos soon and try to give a very in-depth detailed breakdown of everything for those who want to try to build some tanks.
Beautiful set up, love the the way u implemented the switches. The filtration do not need air bubblers at all, you have more then enough surface tension. i noticed that it is extremely quite.
Thank you. Appreciate the compliment. I hope my channel reaches people interested in doing a build. I learned from youtube videos, and I hope to give back with an idea people might be able to use on their build
@@D.I.Y.Aqualounge I really like how you had all your water inlets and outlets plumbed into the wall. I think I'll have to steal that idea if I ever feel motivated enough to do it! Also awesome tank and sump! Oh definitely, you'll be inspiring tons of people with that setup!
My respects to you brother, that is a awesome basement, actually it's like a dream basement, I would have a giant angelfish aquarium, thank you for sharing this cool video with us
Beautiful tank, excellent planning and construction. The only thing that bothers me is that viewing pain, but that's personal preference. Never built a DIY tank, but this is inspiring.
@@D.I.Y.Aqualounge the only thing that matters is that you are enjoying your AMAZINGLY AWESOME AQUARIUM!!!! I am kind of blown away seeing the great touches that you have done and my favorite is the panel , it's just a little bit of perfect 👌
@DIY Aqua Lounge Brightwell Aquatics Xport NO3 Brick, lots of area for bacteria. They have bigger sheets of the same material. Or smaller cubes to stack. However u wanna tetris up the media in ur sump
Awesome video and love your set up. I wish I had the skills to do this. Is that carpet any issues with water spills? Our fish room has concrete so spill are easy but with your set up you probably don't have that issue.
Love the setup, I saw your Fish room tour on another channel. Nice to see a personal tour on your channel :) How would I know what thickness the viewing glass should be on DIY Fish Tank? Seems it should be less thick than an all glass tank.
Hello, thanks for your kind words. The glass thickness is based off total surface area of the water box. Go to onmicalculator.com. mine 1/2 inch. It's not the length of the glass that's most important, it's the height of the glass holding all the water pressure. The taller the glass the thicker it needs to be. Mine is 1/2" and it's 24" tall
Thank you. The central electrical, if you mean the wiring from the control panel on the tank, is by itself in a hallow space. It's not contained in any material. If I didn't answer your question clearly let me know and I will try again.
Thank you sir!!!! I actually have a ton less than people think...I couldn't afford all the big brand stuff with the tank size, so I built my own and saved a lot of money
Thank you, the overall footprint is 10ft long, 6ft tall, and 4 ft deep. The area holding water is 8ft long, 3 ft tall, and 4ft deep. The viewing window is 6ft long 22 inches wide.
nice video. only thing I can recommend for viewers that want something similar for cheaper... Look Into father fish. u got a lot of time and money into ur setup I can respect the detail you've taken for what you've accomplished. very impressive. but me I'm a simple guy if I can have less maintenance, electricity bill the better. I have tanks 16 months old never had a water change. anaerobic 1-2 inch max layer of nutrient rich mud/moss/clay capped with 2-6 inches of sand. ratio is 1:3 mud/sand. lots of plants = very low maintenance. I'm just not a fan of water changes. I try to achieve fully balanced water. which is possible. in the right setup and right fish i feel it's better for the fish in the long run. less water perimeter changes =less stress. Now that being said it wont work on an over stocked African tank.or any unplanted tank. but it can and will prolong the need for water changes. I had a 150 with 60ish grown Africans and would go 3 months easy no water changes. had tons of floater plants I'm sure u have a decent backup power system??. Much love from Michigan definitely earned my sub. found u through boss aquatics shout out... not a bad way to spend 10,000 dollars..😅👍👍🔥🐠🐟
I agree that everyone has different budgets to work with. In a hobby, you can spend as much or as little as possible. An all glass tank by itself is $7,300 new. I have $4,000 into the 600, including equipment and the stingrays. I saved $3,000 overall, and I have a tank that is 1 of a kind, not mass produced at a factory. When you have stingrays, you have no option but to do water changes frequently. If you don't, you have dead stingrays. My water table is not city water it's sand point well fed water that also gets returned to the same ground it comes from so nothing is wasted. R/O water that is remineralized is the same parameter every time down to the window of 10ppm. No water changes and cheap monthly cost would be great but with my rays I went into it knowing you have to pay to play if you want it done right for healthy animals.
Them switches are awful scary with the open barb fittings above the tank lol bump it with your elbow or something and your spraying water everywhere or draining the tank lol
@@D.I.Y.Aqualounge i don't think you understand brother you are on a whole nother level so professional you should promote yourself it's something u enjoy you put your heart into that build your better than majority fish guys i watch everyday can't wait to see more you can't just do this and not give us more lol
I wasn't planning on the youtube stuff, but people have asked to see some things about it, so I plan on showing everything I can to give back to people trying to build like I did. I watched a lot of videos trying to figure out how to do everything. I just wanted to throw this idea out there to help
