Dave from DJ Models announced via RMweb in July 2014 the first ever crowd funded ready to run locomotive and that it would be a Southern region class 71 B0 Bo Electric.
Now the crowdfunded one is out you can buy a production run version, just check out Kernow's web site below
Crowd funding is when buyers put up the cash in advance of the model being ready then receive the finished product as a reward for their faith at a later date.
In this case at a discounted price and with unique numbers and special packing.

Great film, thank you, I paid up front for my 71 from Dave Jones, it was a long time coming, beaten to the market place by Hornby. I have one of each, with the DJM one being my favourite I have also made an Ayjay kit of the Class 70 Co-Co, or C-C Booster 20002. comprising of a resin body on a cut down Hornby Cl40 chassis. With all the rare or prototype models available, I would welcome a r-t-r Class 70 electric in OO.

Possibly the oddest looking UK Loco I know. Cartoon like with it's droopy face. Almost cute. I think it looks best in all over green. Thanks for reposting.

A very interesting video, thanks. A great story about the making of this very nice looking locomotive, that’s a nice looking pantograph, looks to be very well modelled. Thank you.

I’m glad your model runs well. I have two of their J94s and they are terrible runners. I own a Hornby class 71 and that is a fabulous runner. I really wanted the DJ Models Golden Arrow and have been watching some for sale for a while that haven’t sold. However I was put off by my J94 experiences. Fortunately Ellis Clarke Trains saved the day. I bought a Horny Golden Arrow conversion that runs really well and at a good price.

Hi there. Thanks. Well done on the Golden Arrow. They can indeed be picky runners. Getting all the gear train lubricated is not an easy job. I sometimes wonder if the whole chassis needs dipping lol this goes for all DJ models. Brilliant design but failed by using stupidly small cordless motors with massive gear trains

As usual plenty of detail. I look at reviews often but much prefer your history and of course the way you make it feel real.

I have the DJ 060 tank, bnib. One day I might even get it out! I've heard dire reports on their reliability.

Hi, well I have a few DJ models and they are all good. A little over engineered in places but honestly good models. They all benefit from a 220uF non pol and 0.1 uF cap across the motor. This both protects and speeds them up a little
