That is a wonderful video. The fireman's duties got a lot easier with oil fuel and is less of a fire hazard for the railroad. I rode the Silverton several decades ago; it was a wonderful and fun experience.
So they put the helper up front? How do they sync the two engines so that they are running relatively the same pulling power? That's a scary piece of track in places!
Yes, helper engine up front. Good question, not sure how they sync the two engines, I believe the road engine, the one hooked to the cars, just just adds throttle when needed. Scary but beautiful!
@@fireandsteam5164 Thanks. And yes it is beautiful. I have fond memories from when I was a kid on the farm and these old steamers would haunt the night hauling freight and echoing off the hills.
