It's 2024 and this shit is still dope. D Styles scratches was always clean and never sloppy. I can understand what he was trying to convey sonically through the language of scratching.
I dont think anyone will ever surpass D-Styles for me, but I always preferred musical scratching over technical(kinda unsurpassed there as well). Would love to see Qbert, D-Styles and Flare do a back and fourth freestyle session like back in the days. So many great memories watching those ISP VHS tapes back in the late 90s/early 2000s then spending hours scratching.
Same here. Its like he's playing the decks as instrument. The patterns and control of the cross fader are amazing. I mostly play Chicago house music and funky techno so I'm more about smooth transitions and matching keys when mixing. I'm in awe of people who can scratch like this.
@jasonyoudj That's a sign of someone great, in my opinion. It's like Michael jordan said back in the day, he's always learning and the day he stops will be the day he walks away from basketball. D is incredible and just oozes style in a way no one else can match.
i cant remember the name, but its just a baby every third note your turning the fader off* so think of it like a foward/back - back/forward - foward/back - back/forward - forward/back then he just did the same thing but released the sound while he did it over the second bar. good luck!!!
