D’un seul soleil vient toute ma lumiere
Et sans ses rays elle ne se peult voir
Et touteffois sa clerté toute entiere,
M’offusque, et faict ma lueur disparoir,
Car luy present ne puis rien apparoir
Mais au contraire aussi tost qu’il s’absente,
Mon teinct ternist, et ma face excellente
Font eclipser, dueil, et obscurité,
Que fauldroit il, pour me rendre contente,
Que son cler ciel feust de moy habité.
English translation:
From only one sun all my light descends
and without its rays I cannot shine
And even so: Its shining lustre
is apalling me and obscuring my gleam.
Because where it is, I cannot lighten anything anymore.
But nonetheless: Is it missing, I pale
and grief and gloom are fogging my face.
Oh, could I that's how I could be happy
live in its enlightened heaven

Mein Licht wird genährt von allein einer Sonne
Ohne deren Strahlen ich nicht leuchten kann
Und dennoch: ihr klarer Glanz empöret mich
Und macht mein Schimmern unsichtbar -
Denn wo sie ist, kann ich nichts mehr erhellen.
Doch: ist sie fort, so werd' ich blass
und Gram und Dunkel verschleiern mein Gesicht.
Oh könnte ich - so wär' ich glücklich -
ihrem lichten Himmel innewohnen.
