In 2015 Telstra used 3 tractors to lay down fibre cable, and you used one. You are saving more money. That other mob used Nº 3 tractor to cover the cable. All the best.
@ruaraidhmcdonald-walker9524
Well I had to knock these fenceposts in and I didn't have a hammer so I just used the tools I had to hand. D11 blade anyone? Damn posts are flush with the earth! ;) Great stuff! Team J!

there are purpose built D8s for mole ploughing pipe so I think the d11 is a fair machine for the job! here in Ireland we use tractor mounted mole ploughs for pipe and it works great. we dig a starter hole so you're not putting as much strain on the unit as well as holes for each connection, last thing anyone wants is for the connector to pull apart and fail
@svfirefly2702
@svfirefly2702 Год назад
For next time, perhaps digging a starter hole would be a good idea, gives you something to lower the blade and boot into before you start ripping, preventing your issue of shearing bolts by lowering too quickly. It also means you can connect to your main pipe sub surface, or in the bottom of a manhole to protect it all. That’s the method I’ve seen a lot of guys use for laying tile and pipe elsewhere.

@tyharland1906 Год назад
You are correct,good advice. I ran a fiber optic cable plow for a few years, we practiced the exact method you speak of.its also peice of mind knowing there are no humps or shallow areas in whatever you've just installed

I liked Phil's son backing up the tractor with a trailer on it like a pro. City kids would have no chance of being able to do that.

When doing your initial plunge wouldn’t it be better to kick the ripper back so the main ripper is taking the force and once your at depth pull the ripper back to vertical so the attachment isn’t seeing any of the force from the plunge.

Hi Matt, a nice D11-job, but, for future generations, did you map the pipeline, on papaer or a digital map ? (include the joints!)
@Rogster559
@Rogster559 Год назад
You are very trusting putting a joiner in the pipe and feeding it through the pipe layer , we tried it and as the stretch went out of the pipe it pulled the pipe out of the joiner it was fun digging sloppy mud and water to add a metre of pipe with a second joiner because it had parted by 3 centimetres and flooded the area with water for 24 hours before it was found
@thewarehouseproject2634
@thewarehouseproject2634 Год назад
Note to self: Pre-rip first, that way there is less strain on the boot and you also would have probably worked out your path and any issues that arise before laying the pipe

Gday Matt great video, some people here put a one way air vent at the top of the line in case of a water leak at the bottom causing the water to drain back and the pipe to suck it’s self together, if you haven’t already done so. Thanks again

If you have larger pipe (with ears ) have it for the rear support of the down pipe. with some flat bar with holes ?? 1 1/2" from the sides of the ripper should support it without welding to the ripper? Have 3/4" Gr 8 ready rod . Something quick and easy to make.
