You have a cat D11 with a single shank ripper dancing on it's toes trying to rip I would say that is hard ground lol. Good job getting other things ready for work.

Good old tractors the 80 series chamberlains I have a 4280 nice old tractor they certainly don't make them like they used to
@jefftheaussie2225

Matt, John Deere acquired Chamberlain in 1970, that was when they went from orange to yellow. Yellow is between orange and green on the colour spectrum but I don’t know if that had anything to do with the choice. John Deere had very little dealer presence in Australia till then and as Chamberlain had dealerships everywhere it was a good decision for JD. Your 4480 has long guards (an early one) and the batteries under the floor which is a much better place than under the seat where they were on the earlier ones. The under floor battery boxes could be retro-fitted, but if they are original I would say it was built about 1979. Being able to cook eggs on the ripper points would be handy sometimes I suppose. Damn I enjoy your Vids Matt! Just came in from making up a drawbar for my little toy tractor and a ripper. Wanting to plant a row of hedges along the fence line to give us some privacy . With a few mods, some learning and some real ugly welds, it worked better than I hoped. Next I'll go fab up a wider blade to make the job a bit faster now the main part is broken up and make a trench for planting the shrubs. I thought the dry packed clay I have was a bit tough but nothing like in that gravel pit. Would not have imagined the friction could be so great as to get that ripper point so hot. There is some energy being imparted to get that amount of metal that warm. Great vid as always mate. The different things you show give one an appreciation for life on the land and the jumping around as you have put it makes for very interesting Vids. Don't change anything you are doing Matt, you have it spot on already.

Hey Matty, I know how farmers love to keep all the machines over the years and was wondering if you could do a Vlog on all the old equipment you guys have around that your dad or grandad used to use. The old chamberlain of your dads was great to see. I live next to the ocean in southwest Victoria so stuff rusts away overnight down this way but up there it seems to live on. Love ya Vlogs and they way you explain things. Greats stuff Matt 👌👌

It's great stuff silcrete, single ripper is the go for breaking it up. I operate a D11 for a living and sometimes in the push we can be breaking up siltcrete for hours and hours on end. Any reason why you're not using full power ripping?

Just found your channel Mate ... a "Texan" that used to be responsible for all the F-35 work done in Australia. Just a friendly comment ... truly meant to help not hurt ... when drilling out the ID of the Pulley, PLEASE use a lubricant of some type. Not just for longevity of the bit but what you've basically done by this operation is to anneal the bearing surface ... and that's not good ... she'll wear out much, much faster at that juncture. As to attempting to Rip that Sedimentary Rock Formation is a Fool's errand. Take a note on how Andrew did it ... bit more "Time" and money but in the end you come out ahead IMHO. Subscribed ~~~ great stuff !!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ADYVg8b52cE.html
