i like the hammer method, the one thing i always do before smacking the lca to get the ball joint off is I put the castle nut back on the ball joint, that way if i miss i don't end up messing up the threads on the ball joint. fun video, keep up the good work.

Easiest way to pop the balljoint is to put a half inch extension in between the hub and LCA. use a jack to push up on the LCA and the hub will pop up off with the ball joint. I did this on my EM1 and it took seconds.

yup best way save from damaging the ball joint and the boot. just like in the video you almost always have to replace the ball joint boot when using the fork.

Hey man a lovely tip for those axle nuts. Stick a flat head in the middle of the rotor and lock it against the caliper. It’ll do the same thing as pressing the brakes.

@@RefineMovement Another way to remove the lower ball join is put a square metal tool such as a ratchet handle and jack up the front of the car just a few centimeters over a jack stand and lower the jack quick and the spring will force it the threads out.

the starter has a signal wire from the ignition and a hot/power from the battery the ground is a case ground

When breaking the ball joints, use 2 hammers, hit on opposite ends simultaneously.

Nice vid, guys! Whenever I had a tough-to-remove drain bolt, I would tap the handle of the ratchet wrench with a hammer and it will loosen up just fine

Thanks a lot man! Thanks for your advice as well. That sounds like a good way to break the bolt loose. Fortunately for me in this situation it wasn't critical to do that but I'll keep it in mind. I always love using the impact wrench where possible though! haha

Put a screw driver in one of the slots of the brake rotor when breaking the axel nut.

anyone new watching before raising the car break the axel nuts because they are torq down very tight as they should be and most impacts wont take it off

Congrats on getting that out yourself that's a good bit of work for a day! next time you use the pickel forks for anything just hold the fork with channel locks to clear your hand away, and whale on the handle of the fork with a bigger hammer and should pop nicely! either way well done dude!

I remember my old hatchback EG Civic with the VTEC-E having a super small final drive with long gearing made for efficiency. If I drove and changed gears at 2000 RPM each gear, I would be changing from 1st to 2nd at 20 kmph, 2nd to 3rd at 40 kmph, 3rd to 4th at 60 kmph, and 4th to 5th at 80 kmph, and the car will cruise at 100 kmph at 2000 RPM... so slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww LOL

Oh man so yes lol you know the pain. I don't think most people have driven the cx or those vtec-e models. Not sure if that came with the cx or a different transmission but yes, it is absolutely geared towards one purpose: fuel efficiency lol. Wow, so you know exactly how mine felt. This new Si transmission will be a totally different world.

i never mess with ball joints, i take off the brake caliper and the 2 bolts holding the fork and the strut.

4lb hammer on the end of a 3/8 breaker is your friend. Sometimes bolts just need an initial force to crack em loose and for ball joints grab a pitman arm

Good for you man! That's the big one haha. After pulling these couple trans I feel confident in being able to pull a motor now as well. you can make easy cheap power with the d15b7 just need to get a d16z6 intake manifold with d16z6 injectors b18b1 throttle body and d16z6 exhaust manifold you can get these things cheap at your local junkyard Craigslist forums or Facebook market

Thanks a lot man! Who knows what the future holds although likely a B swap. For now though I am just looking to make the most out of the d series that I have because I want to focus my attention on the suspension and handling of the car first. Sort those pieces out before adding power. Tracking after upgrades are done and seeing the progress as I go. Thanks for watching

Hey man, well my plan is to go back this coming summer. So sometime May-July, haven't decided a date obviously. That's my target anyway. New transmission and wheels and tires is what I'd like to happen before that
