I love that Cross's message is spreading everywhere. But it's gonna be hard to make the community stop caring, 'cause this massive recent upsurge of player count tells bungie that there's always ways of bringing people back and taking their money.
@@shvdowsora especially when frostbolt and gernader both say they wont quit. if the top content creators just LEFT the game for a year and posted content of multiple other games. destiny 2s player count would slowly start dropping.
Y’all shoulda already accepted it, I have called it the 2k phenom. Until y’all STOP buying dlcs and seasons and eververse items bungie will never change. They profits increase year after year
I quit playing Destiny years ago but I've always like your style and sense of humor, so I'm all for watching you branch out and I think you'll be amazingly successful once you find your footing in variety, and i will likely tune in more if I see you doing stuff other than Destiny (provided the algorithm even tells me).
The last time we had a major shakeup was Forsaken, which was seemingly caused by people's apathy during the Curse of Osiris era. It was the only time I, and many others, quite literally quit the game, I remember the reddit even becoming a ghost town. Until we hit those kind of levels again, we aren't going to see any change. It's easier said than done, of course; a lot of players are quite literally addicted to playing Destiny.
I was but I quit before Lightfall as I was tired of being angry, been playing since D1 and it is my main game but its time to prove a point to Bungie....
Curse was the first time I’ve ever put down the game. I returned for Warmind but I’ve never really regained that D1 spark. I think tbh Final Shape is bungies last chance to improve destiny and I hope this silence is for better feedback
Except that it wont, quit pretending like any of you would, because all of us would just come right back when Final Shape DLC comes out, because it’s the last DLC, everyone would just say the same thing of “it’s the last one anyway, might as well just get it, Bungie won’t flop this too right, they’ve build so much hype and have two years of delays and filler to get to this point” yeah, nah, we all came back for a s𝚑Ꭵt overhyped season, we all will definitely come back for an overhyped DLC, especially now that Bungie suddenly brought Cayde back, because Cayde apparently is the pillar of Destiny’s hype now. Destiny dying? Kill Cayde for hype. Destiny dying again? Let’s bring Cayde back again, and let’s put it out in a trailer one year early, so people would hype it up. These idiots won’t quit, nor will they stop shoving money down Bungie’s throat, specifically sweatcicle and his dogshit spending spree stream.
@@Wig-po5nbif there isn’t any fortifications added to the server for final shape you know it’s gonna be another buggy glitchy launch again. Final shape might be destiny’s version of marvel end game, the story old fans have been following is wrapping up and once it does that’s a real good looking stop for people
Datto mentioned in his response video that Bungie is going to go one of two ways: 1. They are going to acknowledge the "12 dollar seasons but actually 15 teehee" by making a 1200 silver bundle to get the heat off their back and the community will cheer and consider that a win, or, more likely, 2. they will ignore every single problem and hope it goes away, which, going by the active player numbers and how people are addicted to this game (me included), it likely will.
This paraphrasing is almost as bad as Sweats. JT clearly said that as long as people hate your game, you can fix it - because the passion is there. If people are just silent, then you don't know what the problem is and you can't fix it. I've never seen a quote taken further out of context.
@@chungusultimate Oh WOW congrats WOW you know it all about game making and developing after you watched that single Datto video that scream narcissism, that literally everyone else watches too. don't slander the devs. you really think a weapons or ui design employee is responsible for these changes? of course not. we need to go after their bosses bosses boss, since they're the ones calling the shots.
All I can say is, I've really lost interest in the game. I've quit playing this season by not purchasing it, and I haven't regretted that decision once since I've stopped playing. The apathy has definitely taken effect on me, because I'm just too tired to really care.
I completely get what your saying. Ive been playing since d1 beta. But i havent been able to open it up for over 2 weeks now and when i think of it, it hurts to see my passion for destiny just isnt there anymore. You do you sweat! Have fun with the variety
@P1DZz gaming is the hobby bro. You have no idea what burnout is bud. Been there done that still dealing with it. D2 was my hobby. Thanks for the comment but move on and get another hobby instead of trying to be toxic in RU-vid comments.
I mean bungie putting revenue over player retention/fun is just a kick in the teeth. If you make a fun and enjoyable dlc like forsaken people will buy into it and stick around u like lightfall which seems to be a turn off for players. Turns out when you put effort and quality into your work it pays off PR and profit wise who knew
Same. Reached the point where I just don't give two sh*** anymore. The game is extremely boring and repetitive to the point of nausea. Little to no effort, while charging even more money....really Bungie?
I’m so glad Sweat has raised it, I’ve been feeling it for a long time. Destiny has, or well had really now, the potential to be looked at as one on the greatest gaming experiences ever. But it’s instead being ground through the dirt for the purposes of making a few more dollars.
Yeah the fact that gunplay in the game is so addictive and fun makes it a good frame for what could be the best looter shooter mmo in the world. I'd like to see that come to life but Bungie will not care unless we can come together and quit.
@@Fadedagent64 I quit before Lightfall, I was angry for so long and sadly now I am just apathetic because those managing Destiny just don't care. As long as they keep making bank they definitely wont change. It has been my main game since D1, it was not easy but like you said it is the only way things will change but as far as Final Shape, its too late to turn the ship around, I'm sure it will be great but the lack of content in-between yearly expansions is drip fed seasonal content, core of the game is ignored and we get less content for higher prices, something has to give, send a message by not purchasing, and yes I know those that bought 100 edition can't do that.
@@oldboy4271 yeah WQ really set the standard for Bungie as a whole for me. I thought that LF would take WQ's place as one of the best expansions ever released. Maybe more content and new things to explore. Strand is good but that's literally all it has going for it. I unfortunately bought the 100 dollar deluxe edition and to my surprise it wasn't worth it. None of it was. Plundered and haunted really made me think destiny was going to die and I'll have pretty much nothing to play. Then came seraph which was okay but LF was the prize we were waiting for, the light at the end of the tunnel. You can guess the rest up to that point. I'm tired of doing the same tedious boring activities and meaningless loot I'm getting is not what I signed up for. Just gonna wait it out to see how the rest of the year will turn out. I'm truly disappointed in Bungie because we all know they can do better.
Its like having to put an old dog down man it never feels good to move on. But people will always watch you for well... you, do whatever you want man and we'll be here to support ya!
You make a lot of good points, I missed the apathy part of it too. So they really don’t care if we love or hate their game, that’s upsetting. Thankfully to all my time in D2 I have an INSANE backlog of games I missed out on. I just finished the Dishonored series. Now I’m on my very first Zelda game Botw. I can’t believe I skipped out on these. I probably have about 25-30 other games I own and need to play.
@@gladesucks7907 dude I want to go back and play the entire series again in different ways but I want to enjoy some other games first. For “older” games those were really impressive.
The game getting more expensive after the split is a conversation that I've been having for a moment. The one thing I feel Activision understood was that there were two types of players in the game, and that by feeding both groups desires they could keep the game within a healthy cycle.
Out of all the d2 content creators. You have the best shot at going variety. Bc your RU-vid videos have always been conferred around you more than the game itself. Atleast for me, I always watched thr vids bc they felt like any other streamer making standard content, it just happen to have d2 though as the gameplay
youtube is a game of getting people to click on your content for what it is, and stay with your content for who you are. Sweat has been doing a pretty good job at that from what I've seen. So I think he should be fine.
It's not coming together, wake up. These streamers aren't getting the same views for Destiny anymore because people are not playing it as much anymore because it sucks. They aren't making the same money anymore, so they are panicking. Listen to this guy at the end of his video. He's moving on to OTHER GAMES. he says PLEASE GIVE HIM A CHANCE. Meaning I'm not making any money off Destiny. Please give me money to play other games. 😂

Being a Destiny 1 y2 vet, i havent seen all of the highs and lows of the game, but i have been along for the ride long enough to feel the same way as you present. Im not going to drop the game. Im invested in story and characters and gameplay that i really do enjoy (most of the time). However, im as you made the metaphor of, just clocking in on any given day to do what i do in game. Its less about the love of the game and more just keeping house as i figure a way to finance a second and move to a nicer neighborhood. Weekly shader check ✔, story beats ✔, ritual bonuses for quick resets ✔, etc ✔... At this point its almost kept up by the sunk cost fallacy alone. The grind isnt inspiring, especially as i work a 9-5, and keeping up with the Jones' s a job in and of itself sometimes. Im barely lvl 23 as of right now this season and im only apprised of the story through the lore creators. Its been a long road and unless Bungie really hits it over the fences, D2 will die a slow death in my world. Not because i dont care to keep up with it, but because it continues to dishearten me with a lack of anything meaningful to keep up with.
I feel the same, coming into destiny around taken king. Especially the grind part. I've always liked chasing after the new shiny toys but with d2 it just doesn't feel that rewarding anymore. I just tune in weekly and each dlc for the story as I'm too invested personally to drop it now, try to get rank 100 with the seasons so I get everything, then dip out and play other games like warframe. WF feels far more rewarding for the time you put into playing the game (aside from relics, that rng can be cruel) than d2 has felt.
Bungie Devs blocking people for no reason just means they can't take criticism imo. However its great to hear that you met people who work on D2 and care. Because it means they have passion the same way the community / players.
I’ve recently just fell off playing this game and i think that’s been due to a lot of my friends who i played with, we have either all fallen out with each other or just IRL is changing. The clan i’m in at the moment, i’ve barely interacted with and it does give me a sense of frustration as thats all on me. Played since launch of D1 and i hate the way this game has gone. Anyway love the content, looking forward to what’s coming! ❤
azt is cool imo but its still fucking amusing how everyone wants to talk about this stuff now and are not trying to shit on azt but everyone shat on the man talking about this shit for the last 7 years

me with my friends also got all of active triumph and also switched to playing other games till we get something major in d2 we all want a change in bungie behavior, looking at there twabs (or twids) they seem so down to earth, yet so far when you play actual game
I feel like Destiny 2 was meant to be a 3 year plan game and we where supposed to get Destiny 3 after, but after the split for Activision I feel like Bungie couldn’t afford or had the necessary man power to make D3 so they just kept going on with a game that was structured to be a 3 year game. And that’s why we got sunseting and why the game is so unstable at times. So after final shape we are desperately gonna need either a full on system overhaul or Destiny 3.
It was originally meant to be a 3-4 year game. Part of the Bungie Activision contract was for a Destiny 3. After Bungie split up everyone gave them some leeway, but it’s been 4 years, they have more funding, and more manpower than ever yet we are getting repeatedly worse and worse products at a higher cost that is more unstable. I’m of the mindset that Destiny 2 would have been remembered as an amazing game if Destiny 3 was made, but now it’s not even Destiny 2, it’s pretty much Destiny 3 with less quality and stability than Destiny 1.
Couldn’t afford? They are making multi millions on the cash shop. They can afford anything, but why spend on player experience when they will spend regardless. People are stupid
I would say that activison pretty much made sure the game was actually contentful, instead of the repeating bs that it is now, since they split the game has gone down and down constantly and every update has been crappier than ever
@@jamesmathis5726 I was referring to when the split happened. What they do with the money they have now and after the playstation acquisition is something we will have to see after the final shape. I know Marathon is being developed, but people saying it sucks all the funding from destiny is jus baffling. It would be extremely dumb of them to put all their eggs in a single basket. Especially for a game with almost no past reputation like Marathon.
Man, I never comment videos or interact with stuff, but damn this hurts! I almost cried when Swet said that this game AND Bungie, have the potential to be remembered as one of the best games that ever existed, incredible lore, fun game play, the possibility to add extremely good content, secrets a fantastic community... but all that matters is the freaking stupid money, the shit corporate side of things.... is just so frustrating, I've been grinding so hard since Beyond Light and enjoying myself, but right now I have like 2 months without playing because I'm tired of the same trash every season. I whish there was somebody in the community that would make a move so that every one would talk with their wallets and make justice to this awesome game. Uff, I needed to get that out of my chest, if you resd this all the way to the end, thank you for your time =D
If you started at beyond light and are feeling burnt out imagine someone who has been here since beta of d1. It's so sad to see the game just go from being super enjoyable to same shit different sky box.
@@Minifliek they took my fuckin austringer and now I have to go grind for a gun I already own but not only that if I want a good roll it's gonna take even longer!
They won’t make any meaningful changes until people stop caring. Reduce your play time and talk less about destiny and bungie will be forced to take action.

As a business man myself, all i can say, is that the "problem" is not bungie selling via micro transactions, the problem is coming from all those players buying via micro transactions.
Most micro transactions are just small accessories in game, but Bungie is taking it way to far and forcing players to drop hundreds on dlcs, seasons, and dungeons. Without paying you can't do shit and you won't get any cool weapons/armor or learn anything about the story. That's the biggest problem, and additionally, Bungie is using reused content, and giving us less story in seasons.
@@v.rocky111 been playing destiny since the d1 alpha, bought all expansions to date. Destiny is not, has never been, and never will be 100% free to play. What has been categorised as free to play is nothing other than a very generous demo. Considering how much game play i have got out of destiny as a franchise, i think that 100 bucks a year is still excellent value for money. What is not good for the expectations tied to the game, is how much players invest in pure cosmetics. Why should bungie invest time and resources into some new activity, map, or whatever else, when they can make some new emote or finisher or ship, and earn just as much money ? If the players give them this possibility, then it's obvious that they, as a company, will inevitably try to make the most, while spending the least, simple business logic.

This needs more views and spotlight than the Aztecross’ video. He not only precisely pinpointed the issue that has been plaguing this game but also provided the most effective solution. Seriously, share this everywhere. Talk about this. Make it go viral, then you can stop caring and talking about the game..
I quit D2 a while ago, but I still watch you and Datto. Love the game, hate the seasonal model and the boring, monotonous grind and lack of true content
I'm a really new player, relatively. I got Beyond Light for free this February, got into the grind, and am now doing loads of endgame stuff from every expansion. Being a previous CoD player, I'm used to controversy within the community, but this is something. Never have I seen such a passionate and genuinely concerned playerbase, so when I realised the real depth and potential domino effect of all these issues, I'm starting to worry I shouldn't have started playing in the first place. Problem is I've had so much fun by myself and with others that it's very conflicting as a player to weigh up playing and caring less, or enjoying a game as it is. Great video as always, Sweat. Hope you do what's best for you, not anyone else.
I stopped caring after Beyond Light. I've tried to jump in as the Expansions trickled out but I found myself just doing the story and tge quiting the game for another year. I haven't bought Lightfall because I am just going to do the same thing. You were right about the best moments being in D1. I used to love jumping in crucible, helping other players with Raids, running new players through the Campaigns. Now, I never even recommend the game because I just have a rancid disdain of the game. Go play any other MMO or MMO like, just not this one.
Good video. I don't think that I'll be able to fully quit the game but it's definitely slowed down for me recently. A lot of friends stopped playing so now not having anyone to play with is helping me do other games.
I gotta say man, I'm really glad you finally figured it out. It's not just you, it's this community, content creators always complaining, drawing eyes in and creating freedom for Bungie to screw around. Your eyes are opened! I'm excited to see where you go from here.
Im clocking out for good after final shape. Already been trying other game franchises and am having a blast with it. Curious to see the end of the Destiny story but aside from that, i wouldn't care if the game got permanently deleted out of existence.

destiny players, this is your chance to leave lmao. its clear marathon is their new focus, this is what bungie does.. ditched halo for destiny, ditch destiny for marathon. like come on lightfall sucked ass, the next one will suck ass.. and then theyll do a gimmick until marathon is out
It makes me happy seeing how popular Aztecross video has become and I truly hope that it makes the community realize we are the ones capable of changing the game
nothing lights a fire under bungie's rears like apathy and dwindling player counts. that's the reason they've been pushing their annual pass bundle so hard lately, since it locks players in for the entire year. players are less likely to quit on content they've already paid for.
knowing that bungie has STOPPED employees from doing over the top cool ass shit will never not hurt me inside. the fact that there are devs who are like "oh, for this expansion/season, we could do THIS which would be cool as shit and make the playerbase happy" is such an amazing thing! thats incredible! but the fact they then get told "no, you cant or it will 'set us up for failure on future releases'" is so dumb! no it wont, the reason people expect you to do the same thing you did before is because of how you market it, how you show it to players, etc. is this why lightfall wasnt as good as it couldve been? is this the fate of the final shape? the last dlc in the light and dark saga, the end of an era? i fucking hope they change their tune or destiny just wont be the game i choose to play almost every day. i love destiny, i love the characters, the abilities, the gunplay, the buildcrafting, the fashion, the memes, the community, etc, etc, etc. but i want a game that loves its community as much as its community loves it, and the higher ups are making the game feel way more barebones than it used to be. let me leave anybody reading this, with a thought to ponder on: *how good would destiny as a whole have been if the devs could do all the cool shit they wanted to?*
Thank you for finally coming out of the shell, i saw this coming a mile away from about 2 years ago, i’ve been waiting for a while to turn my notification bell back on, and now that you’re going to be doing variety, the bell is going back on. Good luck brother, I will be there.
In the begining i was only watching you for destiny but lately i have not played destiny in months and i still enjoy watching your content. Do what you wanna boss.
I quit in December and was exhausted from the pasted “with new lipstick” seasons. Glad to see more people are there now too. I’d come back if changes were made in the players favor. Especially the ability to earn loot/rewards by playing the game vs paying the game
I've been playing since day 1 d1 and honestly I'm giving serious thought on finishing the final shape and dipping from the series, even if there is a destiny 3. Some of my friends are even doubting they can make it to final shape at all.
I've been PvP-focused (also endgame PvE) since coming back in Season of the Lost and it's become increasingly demoralizing to play this game.. I've recently deleted my entire vault (200+ items) and both of my spare characters. I've saved just enough things that I can come back in Final Shape to finish off the saga/campaign if I decide I want to come back at that time.
