This is done using D5 rendering software for architectural visualization. It’s a great 3D render software that saves a ton of time for architects because it helps you achieve the level of detail and realism not available in any other similar software.

For me the most important benefit of D5 is how lighter it is comparing to Lumion and also the fact that all the surfaces have proper reflection and you don’t need to select only few surfaces to have accurate reflection (only 10 in case of lumion). If they keep up these improvements (which I’m sure they will) there will be no reason to continue using Lumion. I have already switched to D5 for my projects and I’m quite happy about it. Also thanks for the video. Perfect as always.

It's really interesting the new Geo & Sky. I worked on a project before that implemented a geo & sky as well, and it's quite nice to see how the location changes completely the sun position.

Last huge benefit is D5 is free to use and perpetual license for pro version. The emissive light map still output the same light intensity even when inverted. There are still a lot of bugs in the program but they updates make up for its faults. Plus no subscription fees!

Hi there! When you demonstrate mapping for emissive light, you say that light is only emitted in white areas. Why then does the light on the ground not change when you invert? The amount of white (and therefore light) increases dramatically but the ground is lit the same. We can see the reflection in the windows changes but the ground illumination. Thanks!

the plants drawing by brush,can change color together,and the water material has been improved a lot,much better than 1.81😆

The drawing by brush it's really nice. I wish could be done for blending textures as well. I selected just a few of the new features, so the video isnt too long. :)

Hello Nuno.. few minutes and I already subscribed to your channel .. great stuff going in here .. I’m architect working on Archicad since 2000 (now freelancer) .. I used many rendering softs never got satisfied.. some not good some very complex and slow .. so I stuck to Abvent artlantis which offers the best compromise between decent quality and time work .. and I succeeded to render very good images .. than I recently discover the D5 and your channel .. I’m running a i7 7700k ..16 Go DDR 4 and 1 To SSD .. plus 4 To HDD.. my graphic card is a Nvidia GTX 950.. but I think it’s not enough. What graphic card do you think allows smooth and quick work flow .. and not too much expensive .. a good one I mean not the top level graphic cards .. I want something that has good balance between price and quality. Thanks a lot for your videos .. great job.

Thank you for your kind feedback! D5 Render requires as a minimum the 1060 graphics card. I would recommend getting at least the RTX 2060, if you can. Probably you can get it for around $300 nowadays.

Hello! Nice information in this video! Was wondering, what do you feel about importing plants, for example, from Quixel? Will work even better than in Lumion?

Thank you! It's easier in D5 because they have already all the map slots available. So you don't need to go to Photoshop to insert them in the Alpha Channel.

@@NunoSilva3d yeah, I'm seriously thinking on try your D5 course to learn anything from you. All this video makes me also think about how future features will help the look of the ground. I mean, now it looks really flat, nothing compared of what have made with Lumion... It's something that always made me be a little bit concerned, how imperfections will appear in this software. Anyway, thanks for your content, as always very informative 🙌.

Hi Nuno. Thanks for your videos and very detailed walk through of D5 👍🏼 Question: is there no way of changing the material for a object that shares material with other objects without changing the material for all?? Like Twinmotion has this feature, and for my workflow this is very useful since i like to play with the materials inside the render, and not plan everything in Sketchup. Also having to go back to Sketchup and assigning that object a new material is teadeus. Thanks!

You mean it it has the same material ID? If that's the case, it will share the material.

@@NunoSilva3d i guess so. Lest say i make a whole model without assigning any material in Skethcup, leaving it with the standard material before exporting to D5. Then the whole model will share material ID and can not be assigned different materials per say?

Hello sir, I am subscriber of your channel and watching your videos regularly. i am facing a problem, can you help please. during a small model like bathroom, when we need to render front view, i add clip plan. when i render it. in reflection it shows outside view in reflection, is there any setting like in v ray. just showing interior in reflection during section plan. Thank you

It has a different type of lighting, maybe due to real-time raytracing. They are coming up with new features quite fast.

Lumion or D5 are quite fast. I notice that for animation D5 is a little bit faster in my machine.

Maybe Lumion will put out the same type of raytracing that D5 does.. I tried downloading D5 but it would not run on the graphics card I was using. It required a very specific graphics card.. thats the main drawback with D5 I guess.

Both are great, if you don't look at the price. D5 is better for interiors currently, so if that's something you do a lot, I would suggest D5.

I can safely say that the Lumion guys can pack and go home,D5 render still has a lot to catch up on, but if we wait another year, maybe Corona will be in fear
