Innocent until proven guilty by the court. Y'all, for those of you who don't seem to understand, it doesn't matter if you know he did it, but under US law you are innocent until proven guilty and are ensured a fair trial. Sheesh. There's no doubt he did it, but unless the dude pleads "guilty", says he did it and is convicted, then the US has a procedure for these things. Just remember if you ever find yourself in front of a judge, no matter if you did the crime or not, you would want and be "innocent until proven guilty". Also, news stations and other outlets have to protect themselves from defamation lawsuits so they must use certain terminology. Some of y'all act like you don't know how this country works.
@@thisistheaccountname Not for the public ----I can call the p.o.s. guilty all day long. I can even say the Feds ought to kill with the death penalty. He's guilty, guilty, guilty. The media sites have to use 'alledged' not the public > it is legal and protected to have an opinion.
@@speakmymind9905 The death penalty costs multiple times more than life in prison. Because so many innocent people are convicted they try to minimize that in the case of the ultimate punishment with a lot of safeguards. Still, we know many innocent people have been sentenced to death regardless (and that is not conjecture, many dozens of them have subsequently been found innocent and exonerated since the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1977, others were put to death). I'm not saying that there is any doubt in this guy's case but the system has to work the same regardless and the original post was about cost so it's worth considering that it would cost considerably more to put him to death.
Make him a working slave! Put that good ol boy to work. Make em be out in Huntsville tx Sun picking strawberries/ breaking up boulders. I want him to have blisters on his soft privileged white hands each day of his miserable existence!
People are being so overdramatic about this. The media is not allowed to definitively say a person is guilty until they have been formally convicted, doesn’t matter if it’s painfully obvious he did it.
Yall really do not understand the justice system. You seem to think that because this case is unforgivably heinous, and that it seems 100% clear that this man is guilty, that he isn't legally given the same right to a fair trial. In fact, if lawyers, police, others were on the news calling him "the gunman" instead of the alleged gunman or the suspected gunman, he could use that to appeal his case. Maybe it wouldn't do any good in this instance because the crimes he committed are tragically devastating, but they must give everyone the assumption of "innocent until proven guilty," which obviously will happen here. He will spend everyday of his life in prison. But as soon as police officers, detectives and news casters start deciding that they can just plainly say "the shooter", "the guilty suspect", it would be chaos. Many of those cases could use that for an appeal and likely would be able to get a whole new trial (or even dropped charges) because of that inherent bias and the fact that they weren't given the rights that they promised to them. Not to mention, as soon as you or someone you care about is falsely arrested, I'm pretty sure you could then understand the importance of everyone getting a fair trial.
Ppl I understand he has a right to a “fair trial”. But let’s not act like this same system that “everyone” deserves a “fair trial” in is not the same system that has SYSTEMATICALLY put down my ppl in this country for 4 centuries. I totally understand the justice system. Because it wasn’t made in my ppls best interest.

The human justice system is flawed globally. Life for a life falls apart when there are passenger deaths caused by distracted driving that are the drivers fault. I think in cases like this there should be a hurried execution because the gunman wanted everyone to know he did it on purpose. The death penalty should only be used as a last resort to protect others from a killer human.
So if someone commits murder and takes everything from that family and relatives, Death for them should be last resort? If there are stricter punishments for people, at least they will think 2wice before committing crime. Here in this country there are less people advocating for victims right and that's a shame.
@@jasmohem1570 You can kill a murderer but not twice. If he kills ten people from ten different families everyone that wants to kill him back with their bare hands can't. Truth is you probably don't wish to kill people so I hope you continue to not have personal reasons to want to. Execution is a part of earth but it's always sad when it has to happen.

In the Newspeak vocabulary, the word crimestop denotes the citizens' self-awareness to immediately rid themselves of unwanted, incorrect thoughts (personal and political), the discovery of which, by the Thinkpol, would lead to detection and arrest, transport to and interrogation at the Miniluv (Ministry of Love). The protagonist, Winston Smith, describes crimestop as a conscious process of self-imposed cognitive dissonance:
Touchy topic, but I feel like mass shooters, rapists, and other severe criminals don’t deserve to live in general, even in jail. Waste of tax dollars. This isn’t a druggy who can turn their life around, this is someone who completely messed up or ended someone’s life and affecting family and friends of the victims.
This guy doesn’t “deserve” to live but that’s not the point, this is a *punishment* - he’s going to spend the next 70 years of his life in prison. That’s wayyyy worse of a punishment than a quick execution imo. He doesn’t *deserve* an easy out - I want him to suffer
i said this in another comment; torture method before prison. torture those who cause heinous crimes like mass shootings and rape to the brink of death; let them heal, rinse and repeat. it'll break their mind more than ever they'll likely want to die; at that point let them live in prison. they'll likely end it all in prison but hey we got them back. but nooo human rights. no once you kill, or take the innocence away from someone and make them vulnerable you shouldn't have any human rights cause you did something very fucking inhumane. and now watch this second comment will get flagged and reported cause someone out there thinks these fucked individuals deserve the same fair trial as anyone else. i say bring back the guillotine for certain criminals but again human rights fucks that up.

Your better off in the States, at least the judge dishes out real justice, in the UK this prick will have the support of the human rights dickheads, social outreach weirdos and countless other creeps stating how he must have had a bad upbringing, blame our society, all this support paid for by the greedy solicitors who then claim against the government and the judge will bow down to the pressyre groups and give the arse wipe 10yrs and he'll probably be out in 5yrs for good behaviour. All at massive cost to the taxpayer. And when he gets out he'll probably get chased by another greedy solicitor who will somehow twist the tale and end up getting compensation for the bell end. @Gonzo Motherfuxxer Cool opinion but according to Encyclopedia of Wars, only 6.87% of conflicts in human history have been over religion. Please do not use unsupported claims in an attempt to offend or stir up people simply because their beliefs are not the same as yours.
The worst part about cases like this is that with a life sentence, they basically can spend every day trying to come up with new ways to get their sentence reduced or petition for retrials, basically just wasting more taxpayers' money
I hate when they say “alleged” when it is clear, along with a written confession, that the person is the perpetrator of the crime. When they report about a thief or a guy who was caught selling drugs, not yet convicted, then seem to forget that the word “alleged” even exists.
They have to say alleged by technicality because it's become national news and by law you're expected to be seen as innocent until proven guilty "in the court of law" so they do not want to give him any legal loophole that suggests otherwise for the chance that he might be seen as not guilty for the pre-assumption of guilt. I know it sounds disingenuine to say "alleged", but it gives more support to the fact that they are doing this by the legal system, and any thing that could suggest they are NOT upholding those obligations and restrictions of What is required to get a conviction could work in this killer's favor buy a loophole which could cause mass hysteria and civil unrest. And I personally understand maybe most don't that they do usually assume guilt too people of color in the media before court verification and that is an arbitrary indicity to the progression as well as the virtue of what we stand by as a nation. So I understand the fact that they are more likely to do that for a criminal who committed such heinous acts for the basic point that he is white but in this specific circumstance it actually will make it easier to convict him. Unfortunately we live in a nation and a world that still has racist biases against black people and our system has very little to protect those minority groups. But we should honestly say alleged more and not just isolated to white psychopaths with racist agendas in order to hide the fact that white supremacy is real and alive within the United States. To further deny that fact is an arbitrary Injustice to the preamble of our Constitution which all politicians and military personnel are sworn to protect!
The written confession isn't all that convincing. It reads nothing like his Discord posts. Maybe he wrote it, but maybe the Discord groomer wrote it. The video is far more convincing, but as far as I know we don't have video leading up to the arrest, so it's remotely possible the guy on the news and the guy who did the shooting aren't the same guy. Presumably, the investigators have that video, but it hasn't made it through a court system, and investigators aren't remotely above bald-faced lies. There's also a difference between layman's terms and technical terms. In layman's terms, we know murders were committed because we saw the video. In technical terms, we don't "know" that, because the court hasn't decided it. And the media uses terms like "alleged", "suspected", or "accused" all the time in minor cases like thieves and drug dealers. It's standard journalism. (Not that there is much journalism left in the world. All the major media outlets these days are about narratives at any cost, not journalism.)
@@gorillamaster101er that’s why I mentioned how they sometimes call the accused “robber” or “thief” without the word “alleged” in front of it. @@devindillard1918 there is always a corner that doesn't have a camera, and they all KNOW where that is lol it's a just a matter of who is working that shift.
It does depend on what exactly you're accusing them of. At this point, he's only suspected of all the charges in question, because those are legal terms used in a legal context, and he hasn't been convicted yet even if we all know he will be. But yeah, I've seen people call him a "suspected" gunman, even though he clearly was a dude with a gun who was shooting people, and "gunman" is not a legal term. I suppose it's remotely possible he's not the gunman at all, and they framed the wrong guy. But that's such a long shot it's really not worth talking about.
The shooter live streamed his crimes on Twitch. They can use whatever words they want to in the media but this guy is GUILTY and his recorded video is proof. Only a matter of time before justice hits him
