And it's revealed in The World of Thedas that the marquis is also the noble who takes a jab to Vivienne's skin color (which tbh it doesn't make sense since most of the nobility and royalty in Thedas descended from Queen Asha of Antiva, who has Rivaini origins). No wonder Vivienne easily acquiesce to the Herald/Inquisitor's decision to dispose of him.
