Oak Mountain is massive. MTB Trails, Golf, FIshing, etc. There's a bunch to do and I'll definitely be back for the MTB trails I didn't get to. Don't be dissuaded by my exhaustion at the end... this is a totally doable route. I was a bit tired from the days prior.

Aw you missed one if my favorites, Boulder Ridge! I could stay on that trail all day🤙 still thunder and lightning are great also...after you do boulder ridge it spits you out at the top of thunder then you do lightning and then head on over to slingshot(both ways), you would like that🔥

Thanks for the rec. I’ll check it out next time. Now I have a good reason to go back!

Preciate the video. Been watching this, for about a week. Went down thunder for the first time, today. No wrecks…much appreciation for the mental preparation.

It’s not too bad is it? A lot more pedaling than you’d expect. Every time I go, I feel like the trail gets longer and more demanding 😂
@MrRandomhero07

@@_Aitch_ nah, not too bad, at all. For my first intro to a black diamond trail, it was fun. Tails is a newer one, in that area. Jump trail that you would like.

I'm glad you made it over and I'm sorry I couldn't go with you that day! There's more good stuff there so next time we'll shuttle up the hill

Definitely. I’m hearing people say storyteller, boulder ridge, and slingshot?

In my neck of the woods for this ride. Based on watching your other videos I think you made some good trail choices. Several others you would probably enjoy too. Trails at the bottom of the mountain are more XC to me. It could be worth another day visit to check some others out if you are in the area. Whew making that climb twice was putting in some work!

Awesome thanks for the info. Glad I made some good choices. There’s definitely still some others I want to come back and do another time. And you’re right about that… doing that climb twice is brutal!

You too, Josh. Thanks for commenting bc I never caught your name. I was thinking about it as I left today. How’d the rest of the day go for you? Also, was that you in front of me on 1776 when I hit that tree?

@joshschaefer4001 Год назад
@@_Aitch_ dude I thought someone crashed but couldn’t tell. I was coming down dong fang and when on 1776 I thought I heard something behind me make loud noise so I was def in front of you. Was worried I was slowing you down. You ok? What happened? You have Instagram? We can message on there. Rest of the day was great for me, hung out with Jarrod for awhile.

@@joshschaefer4001 yeh haha I’m all good. I took my eyes off the trail for a split second and clipped a tree with my bars. Just a little tumble. Nothing too bad haha. Jarrod seems like a cool dude. That’s the first time I’ve seen the legend in the flesh

H this was another great vid. NGL Jekyl looks like my kind of trail man. Got a question. Do your brakes grab at the top of stroke or at the bottom? The other bike I have uses the same brakes and no matter what I do they always grab at the bottom and seem squishy. Did you bleed them to get them to grab that good or change the pads out?
@_Aitch_
@_Aitch_ Год назад
Sorry I missed this. Typically, I think it's just a brand difference. I've heard that Shimano feels more like an on/off braking system while SRAM is more of a progressive braking feel. I find that to be true and consistent with the Shimano brakes on my Scott Spark and the SRAM brakes on my Specialized Enduro. If they are SRAM, then it's likely just how it is supposed to feel (soft and then grabbing at the bottom... this is how mine feel as well). I've never bled either set of brakes. I think I like the SRAM feel better. Just comes down to personal preference. LMK if that helps or not!

Have you seen the revised Lightning trial? I’m heading out there tomorrow to ride it along with thunder and quarry. They did some work on quarry at the beginning

Did you consider story teller trail? I was scared to even try the first feature on it. Slingshot is fun cx style flow.

I didn’t consider it. I just went with the trails I’d heard about most frequently. I’ll probably do it next time tbh seems like a popular trail.

I thought you had to go up Red Road to get to Thunder and lightning?
@_Aitch_
@_Aitch_ Год назад
Looks like you definitely can. I parked near the bottom of Jekyll and took terrace, peavine, and red road to get there. Then came back up the same way to do Hyde and Jekyll. Might be a bit longer of a route but I decided to do that so I could do Hyde and Jekyll easier at the end

No you have to get up Camp road to get to Lightning. To get to Thunder you have to go up Red Road.
