Linh Ứng Pagoda
Our adventure begins at the magnificent Linh Ứng Pagoda, nestled on the Son Tra Peninsula, also known as Monkey Mountain. This stunning pagoda is home to the towering Lady Buddha statue, standing at an impressive 67 meters (220 feet) tall. Overlooking the South China Sea, the Lady Buddha is a symbol of peace and compassion, offering panoramic views of Da Nang’s coastline.
As we explore the pagoda, we’ll encounter the three significant Buddha statues inside:
Shakyamuni Buddha: Representing enlightenment and wisdom.
Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Guanyin or Quan Âm): Symbolizing mercy and compassion.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva (Jizo or Địa Tạng): Known for his vow to assist all beings between the time of the historical Buddha and the future Buddha, Maitreya.
The tranquil gardens and serene atmosphere make Linh Ứng Pagoda a must-visit for those seeking spiritual solace and stunning scenery.
Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son)
Our final destination is the Marble Mountains, a cluster of five marble and limestone hills, each named after one of the five elements: Kim (metal), Thuy (water), Moc (wood), Hoa (fire), and Tho (earth). These mountains are famed for their numerous caves, tunnels, and temples.
Highlights of Marble Mountains:
Heaven Cave (Huyen Khong Cave): Experience the serene and ethereal atmosphere of this open-ceiling cave, filled with natural light and Buddhist shrines.
Hell Cave (Am Phu Cave): Delve into the eerie depths of this cave, designed to depict the Buddhist concept of Hell, complete with statues and scenes of torment and suffering.
