A truly great practice session. Despite the speed and intensity one can still see that the hands/bodies are mostly soft, which is what makes this kind of practice possible without injuries. However, slaps can also be devastating ... I would feel really privileged to be part of such a learning experience, although one recognises that to be here is earned.

@@brandonwilliams4628 Are you saying you see no value in this tactile sensativity training? Seriously, you must not know a good thing when you see it and clearly never felt it. Like a kid saying I hate that and the adult says you hate it but you say you never tried it. That's dummy talk. Usually the kid tries then has an opinion. You seem like that lil brat who speaks before knowing as if you already know. 🤔

Exactly how I felt sparring my old BJJ master. I would start to think I was pretty good sparring other students... Then master would show up and turn on Destroy mode. The worst part was I could feel I was only pushing him to maybe 20% of his full power/skill. Some masters are awesome, but other masters are giants.

This is not full on sparring. Adam is pulling his punches because this is education not combat. A crippled student is not a good outcome. I suspect a real fight with Adam would be pretty short, with some serious injuries on the attacker.

Why does it look like Adam is using a more aggressive stance and more force in this video in contrast to his more relaxed looking stance in other videos?
@inspiringothers7197
@inspiringothers7197 5 лет назад
Chris Hoover Because he’s sparring. There’s a level of intensity and aggression that comes from the state Adam is in, when using it in a real enough situation, it will kind of come out on its own as you realise that you need to stop holding back force and speed due to your training partner having internal skill as well to some degree as was the case with the guy Adam was sparring with.

I believe that most of you don't realize that Adam Mizner is actually providing his students with a different kind of training exercise whilst sort of sparring with them. As far as I can tell, he's literally trying to pull his attacks at the last moment before impact. Thereby not injuring his students. :) He's not missing with those attacks. He's actually occasionally drawing up the strike so that the student can perceive it incoming, and can react accordingly. If he used his real fighting application skills, then these students would get damaged very fast. He seems to me to be trying to get them to use their Taiji against his forceful attacks. Although that does not mean he isn't still using some Taiji. I'm almost certain he is using a downgraded version of Taiji here in order to train the students better instead of just hurting them. Lol

@kingofaikido
@kingofaikido 4 года назад
The hitting function seems to predominate, whereas, as we all know, Adam is doing something completely different. Is this type of sparring common for this long..? In hsing-i and ba-gua sparring, we only do 30 seconds. Usually, someone gets a bloody nose or a mouthful of blood. Of course, sometimes, these sessions can go on for longer but not 10 minutes..! I guess it's good training for Adam..!
