DA16 Acrylic Pour Black Bold Flower With Sandra Lett 012518

I have an array of colors I premix and put into squeeze bottles for this style of acrylic pouring/swiping. I like to make it feel more like art. I have all the colors and DecoArt links below. I mix all my colors 1:1 ratio of paint to Floetrol latex based. I usually do not add water to the DecoArt paints that are in bottles. I might add a little water if they are the premium paints in the tubes. I add treadmill lubricant (silicone) to all my colors except Titanium White and Lamp Black. And as I use up the paint in the bottles, I continue to add paint, Floetrol and silicone to all the other colors. When the project has had a minimum of 72 hours to dry, I then seal it with multiple layers of DuraClear Gloss Varnish using a sponge brush. Store the sponge brush in a ziploc bag between coats so that it the painting has the appropriate drying time recommended on the bottle.

Hi and thanks for showing us your wonderful skill. I don't think of this as an Acrylic Pour painting. It is much more than just dropping mixed colors on a canvas via a soda bottle bottom, or sink drain, et al. You PAINTED this using tools similar to palette painting equipment. Awesome result and I thank you again for getting me away from the what's become boring, pouring videos.

When you did the very first swipe on the bottom left leaf I thought you’d made a terrible mess. Then as you kept going, especially when you switched to the credit card, I finally began to understand what you were doing. The leaves looked magical when you were finished with them. Then when you used the black in the flower center near the end I didn’t get that at first either but I knew something interesting was going to happen. Presto! Lovely effect. Then when you dragged the center dots at the end you got a masterful effect. And best of all, you knew when to quit! It was a pleasure to watch how you developed all the elements as you went along. I learned quite a lot from you today. Thank you.

Love this video. I started taking water color painting classes a few years ago and transitioning to acrylics. I have in mind to do a painting with a black background, inspired by a cousin's sofa painting that she bought with the sofa and a pattern I've seen on a desk chair.
